Michelin or Kumho tires
Ordering new tires for my Boxster, mechanic suggests the Kumhos as opposed to the Michelins. Always have had Michelins on my cars, looking for opinions on someone who's got the Kumhos.
thanks!

Depends how you use the car...had great luck with Kuhmo's on many cars, generally Michelin's are slightly better overall though

If your on a tight budget go Kumho, if you want the best tire I would Michelin or Contintal.

Michelins have a rebate right now that makes them priced very competitively
against some of the more econo brands. I went in expecting to buy a set of
Hankook Ventus V12 and came out with a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports for
$60 more....

Never had Kumhos on any of my cars and there is a reason for that. They are not in the same league as far as performance tire. Michelin Pilot Super Sport is a far superior tire and worth the cost. Why have all the technology and tuning that goes into Porsche suspension and then cheap out on the tire? Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s are a good alternative, too.

Peter, I have the same rubber on my 4S...Absolutely love them! I can't believe I have about 10K kms on the rears and the tread is barely worn!! Great value for the money. I wanted them for my wife's car, but for $60 more bought the Michelin PSS..it was a no-brainer; they're way better tires (especially when priced the same).

You're lucky. My Boxster had suspect alignment which was then more suspect when I repacked and fixed torn cv boots. The first set of rears lasted about 20,000km, the next set only 8,000km. Expensive lesson to go get a $100 alignment.

Went with the Michelin PSS was hesitant on Kumhos, always had Michelins and not about to go with something I didn't know. Car had original Michelins, feels great with the new tires!
