Got "restructured" yesterday. Can anyone recommend a good executive level outplacement service in the West GTA/Oakville area?

 

Most companies offer outplacing as part of the restructuring package. Especially for executives. Check with your hr dept

 

Thanks. They did offer one but I do not want to travel to downtown TO to visit their offices. Also, there is a confict of interest involved with that agency....So, I want to line another up before letting them know that I need a change.

 

I have heard of this group, but I have no experience with them. Maybe a place to start. They are in Mississauga. Sorry to hear about your restructure. That sucks.

Thanks guys. Arnio...I am a manufacturing exec that speciallizes in turnarounds. Basically take struggling companies and make them profitable again.

Anyway i will check with our hr as i am heading into the office today and see who we use.

 

Thanks Iceman. I surely see the irony and unfortunately that's par for the course with a lot of private companies. They often times have relatives in jobs that they are not qualified to do. The business gets in trouble so they bring someone like me in to figure out what is wrong. I clean up the mess and then put systems in place to manage the business properly. Once things are running well and the profits are healthy, they go back to family members to run the business...you know, blood is thicker... I don't take it personally anymore

A funny story...I worked for a guy once who had the same situation as above. He had never made more than $500K net income in his 20 plus years in business. I cut a deal when I was hired that I would get 3% of profits (back to dollar one) if we made $2 million or more. The first year there we made $2MM, second year, $3MM and the third year $4.2MM! He calls me in and says that he never meant to pay me that much so he was cutting my bonus!
