Default Odometer fix?

Good day all.

I am interested I purchasing a 964 c4 however the main concern I had was that the odometer wasn't working. Is this something that can be fixed easily or no? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

'easy' to do, 99% chance its the gears are stripped, hardest part of job is uncrimping the gauge faces, where are you located?

I'd say do a search of the 964 forum, but search isn't working at the moment.

It's a fairly simple fix, you need a little white gear, and a couple of hours at your workbench.

Good dyi here...

Of course, you have to wonder, how LONG has the odo been busted? Get a PPI before buying that C4. They're awesome cars, hope it works out.

Worst case scenario is a $200 bill from north Hollywood speedo, plus shipping there and back. Mine was under $250 total when my needle broke and I had to have it fixed and recalibrated. Very easy to remove and disconnect - 5 minute job.

Yeah - good point - but if you're shipping one - pull 'em all and get new gauge faces, re-orient the tach so best torque RPM is when needle is facing straight up, etc.

Welcome to the slipperly slope my friend! : )

I have a 300 km/h 964 speedo.

Part #964.641.516.00 Should be plug and play.

Shows 30,231 km

I guess I should have been a bit more specific...it's in miles as the car is a US import...

In that case I'd definitely go with kirk's and get the km/h speedo. Next time you renew your plates with the mto you'd need to confirm the mileage reading is inaccurate, but you'd have to do that anyway with your broken speedo, technically.

Mine too - and I've just adapted. But it's a bit of a pain. More than once I've looked down to see I'm going only "100". ; )

If you go the rebuild route - then they can convert the guage face for you.
