Default Should you not buy a car in Quebec?

I've heard that they can cover up carproofs etc.
Should I be worried?
There are a few nice Z4M's there.

It was more of a problem in the past than it is now, but still not perfect. It's not so much the carproof (they get their data from insurance companies, police, e-test database and ministries of transportation). It's more a problem of title washing and odometer rollbacks. PPI will take care of the title washing issue, records will confirm odometer accuracy.

I bought a truck from qc through the auction a few years back that had a rolled back odo. Weird thing was, it was only 12000km or something.

Are you saying they can't be trusted?
I sold my last M3 to a couple in Quebec because they didn't trust the Quebec cars.

Trusting a quebecer with the title to a car is like asking the wolf to watch the hen house
just kidding...but it is the known to be the province with the most stolen cars, frankenstien cars, and other fraud associated with cars. They have different laws and I think they barely get punished for this type of thing so they do it. At the same time it does not mean all cars from Quebec are problems nor all Quebecers are bad...I have heard of a few trustworthy ones
can you find any good deals on those cars in the US?

The is no disclosure in Quebec so who knows what your getting.
Buyer beware. I personally would never buy a used car from Quebec unless it was a used Porsche from a Porsche dealer.

You are just confirming what I thought.
Too bad as there are some nice cars there.
I've been looking for a long time and do not see any deals for E46 M cars in the states

I would never touch a car there either! Especially from Montreal. I hardly take the Pcar there and I especially would never park it downtown. Every time I park my "sacrifice" car there... There's always a new scratch or dent somwhere.

+, why would you want a car that's been driven through the worst road conditions in all of Canada? Pot-holes galore... Like I said, I despise taking the car there. I love MTL for many other things though, but if you want to keep a car mint, it's def not there!

Just bought a 535 Touring with 30k from BMW Canbec. Car came with full service records. I recommend you check them out. Would not move a dime on price but from what I understood they have the best priced when it comes to pre owned.

Some harsh stuff here, but there's a degree of truth in there. It's just not as regulated there as here, and enforcement is more lax.

At the end of the day, a good PPI trumps any and all records, so long as it's not stolen or has a lien on it.

I do notice that trucks tend to be cheaper there than in Ontario, for what it's worth.

Personally if I lived in Quebec I'd never leave the house.

Personally, I too, would never buy a car from Quebec... I wonder how many
soggy Hurricane Sandy cars were imported through that province and then had
their titles washed...
