1971,
Where do you live?
I don't think your 4 post'r will work for you in your current situation.
Here are a couple random thoughts?
1 Where do you live? Have you looked at a place with a bigger garage?
2. Do you have room for an addition on your garage? or maybe adding a carport for your wife's car?
3. Pay for storage of your Pcar somewhere for the winter?
Just a couple of thoughts....
Peter

2. No room for addition or car port, damn 40' lot.
3. I have free storage across town in my mom's garage. But I'm sick of not having my car here to work on, which I do a lot in the evenings after the kids go to bed.
I brought home the SAAB tonight to show the wife, she is going to sleep on it. If she likes it I will buy it and sell the Santa Fe. Then we will to have an height issue with the lift. With the saab and my 928 I will have 9" of clearance up top. And I will likely build a carriage swinging door for the garage. Plus we will get rid of the gas guzzling Santa Fe. And it will only cost me a couple grand to make the vehicle switch.
As well we will do a few other things to the house, all In Only increasing our mortgage by about 40k, which still leaves our mortgage very low as we have already paid down a bunch of it.

I'm already removing a false ceiling to get the 122.5-125.5.
I'm bringing home a beautiful 2009 SAAB 9-5 Aero Combi Sport Wagon on an extended test drive for my wife and kids to see.
If she likes it the height problems will be solved, if not it looks like her Santa Fe will be demoted to the drive way.

My wife has decided she wants to keep her Santa Fe, and she has agreed to be banished to the driveway. So my 9-5 will sit under my 928 on the lift.
She drove the 9-5 Combi Sport last night and liked it, but can't get over the lower driving position of a car vs and SUV. Personally I think that's nuts, the 9-5 Combi Sport is a nice machine. And this one has the distinction of being the absolute last SAAB to enter Canada. Fully loaded Aero Combi Sport wagon. One owner, spotless.
If anyone wants info on the car shoot me a PM. IM going to return it to the dealer at lunch.

The Santa Fe at best gets 12L on the highway. 14L in the city.
On my 9-5 2.3t I get close to 6L highway and 11city. Combined 9.5l per 100k.
The SAAB's typically get better mileage then what SAAB rated them at.

So I think I have settled on the prop park 8 plus from direct lift, with the ALI certification.
I opened a hole in my garage ceiling to confirm how much height I can get and it looks like 124" with drywall at the lowest point near the front of the garage.
Just going to build swing out garage doors before I can start ripping out the false ceiling. The first bit of my driveway is covered by a roof, so no issue with snow and carriage doors.
And I'm going to use mighty mule gate motors to open and close the doors.
Stay tuned for a new garage build thread.

You can get garage doods that roll up into a cylinder, sort of like roll up blinds and installs on the outside of the structure. Might be a better choice than swing out doors.

Unfortunately there will be little clearance inside for a traditional door.

I had very similar issues with height issues. I got my garage door tracks raised straight up vertical almost to the roof and then back slightly. This way you can use a conventional garage door and just need to use a jackshaft opener. I reversed the car onto the lift so that the hood of the car faced forward, where the garage door opened and gave me enough clearance.

you also can sell the old door to help pay for the project. have you tested the cement floor for thickness? good luck with the project...I may do this soon but I am pretty sure my cement is too thin and old and cracked. Also I will go with a 2 poster most likely. The carriage doors look very cool...most of the new custom houses in my area have fake ones that roll up.
speaking of garage doors have you seen the site where they have pictures that look realistic; ie exotic cars, cement truck etc? pretty funny
