Part of the "sell job" to the wife on my car was that it came with PDK. The thought being that when I went skiing with my son in the winter, I would take her SUV and she could drive my 911.

Good in theory, but never going to happen. Just got back from Lexus to sign up her new lease and to do a pre-inspection on her existing vehicle. Even with the wear & tear insurance, I fought with them for 10 minutes about the "condition" of her car. Chunk missing from her tire, scratches everywhere... ZERO chance she ever sets her hands on my steering wheel.

Mine has driven it twice, now that it got painted she is scared to drive it. She asked once and I told her she could but had to park it in the bleachers away from everyone. She has not asked since. I have no problem letting her drive it, it's her lack of observation on where and who to park beside that scares me.

I try to encourage my wife to drive the 911 as much as possible! She prefers creature comforts, though, so she doesn't drive it much. She does drive the Mini, plenty.

My wife drives my car whenever she wants. She finds the steering heavy and the radio (which is virtually busted) crappy. In fact, she has authorized the installation of a better stereo system.

I'll add it to the list.

I think she looks great driving my car. She's always loved 911s. It' not often I get to see someone else driving my car, so I enjoy the view.

My wife shares mine with me for DE and AX but she's only driven it on the street without me in the car with her twice. Second time was just this past weekend.... I was sick with the flu and she wanted to go to a PCA social event. She took advantage of my delirious state and asked if she could take it... And I let her.

Her DD is a stick and she prefers it.

She's not the fastest but she did get below 3:00 at Road America in it... and she has a blast autocrossing it.

Here's a video from this past weekend:

I especially like the "SUCK IT!" at the end (the starter was talking sh*t when she was lining up, betting her she couldn't get her time below 41s...) She gets a little competitive.

^This. These cars look best when they're moving, and it's rare to see my own car in motion - I love watching other people drive it, so long as "other people" are reasonable folks.

My wife hates it, and has steadfastly refused to even take it around the block. I have yet to see it moving from the outside.

[QUOTE=Simon Buckley;9712776]I've inadvertently made my wife feel very nervous about driving them, plus when she does ask I always manage to find a reason to say no.[/QUOTE=

This might work for me. I'll think of something

Mine did a couple of times. She enjoyed the rush of the supercharger.

I'm the same. She doesn't even like to be passenger.

She's welcome to drive it whenever she desires to. She grew up driving a manual and still has one for a DD today. She attended PCA's IDS in April and just completed he first 3 day DE weekend.

Here she is on the Mosport Driver Development Track during IDS.

My wife does drive manual (quite well actually) and has had a standing invite to drive my car whenever she wants, but she never has.
Guys,
Remember that for every "no" to your wife, you'll get 10 "no"'s in return to your , um...requests. Just sayin'...
