I don't see the issue if VW enables Porsche to exist and have greater product appeal. I don't see Ferrari owners crying the ownership with the Fiat group.....Chrysler is within the shared group of suppliers . Can't wait to see the latest Viperrari.....lol.

Just be thankful this is NOT a Tata Motors acquisition

I can now say that I own 3 Porsches (well maybe it is more like I have 3 VW's). Looking forward to the new rendition of the 914 (VolksPorsche) and other possible cross breedings that may come along (i.e. the new Panamhare -ah)

That is the spirit! I have always hated the "elitest" Connotations of VW ownership of Porsche. Could have been worse.

I came from a long history of VW and Audi ownership....don't we all share the same humble beginnings

See...this is what confuses me. To me...in the end, this is the only stat that really counts. So it doesn't matter if Porsche's manufacturing company is being absorbed into VW, if Porsche Holdings SE owns VW, then Porsche really did take over VW.

So why are they reporting that VW is absorbing or taking over Porsche?

Well, I'm NOT looking forward to the rebadged Tiguan being sold as a Porsche Cajun. While the Cayenne shares much of it's platform with the Touareg, it has most of it's systems' given the Porsche treatment....I fear that this "merger" might lead to a more direct rebadge and resell business model

I'm not dissing VW for quality really, but they are not at the same level as Porsche has been for 40 years.

Time will tell, but one thing about VW is that they have done a very good job of not messing with the brand value of their acquisitions.

Lamborghini is a terrific example: That brand has never been healthier IMO.

I think VW will play it smart and learn from how Porsche has advanced to the leading edge of both the JD Power 90-day IQS and 3-year dependability studies over the past ten years.

I could be wrong, but I can think of much worse empires for Porsche to be absorbed by... and they were going to eventually be absorbed due to the confluence of industry consolidation factors.

Yeah, the famous "merger of equals". I was on contract to DaimlerChrysler at the time and that was a marriage doomed to fail before the honeymoon even started!
