Thank you for your email. Shell V-Power Premium gasoline (91 octane) is free of ethanol. Other Shell grades gasoline contain ethanol at the following concentrations: Up to 5% ethanol in Shell Silver mid-grade gasoline (89 octane), and up to 10% ethanol in Shell Bronze regular grade gasoline (87 octane).
Thank you for choosing Shell.

My understanding was that 1999 and older should not use Ethanol.
All 1999 and newer Porsche should run as high as possible octane pump gas regardless of Ethanol or not.
Turbos are especially sensitive to lower octane.

Husky sites (most of them formerly Sunoco and P-Can locations recently purchased and rebranded) in the GTA and S.Ontario all offer a 91 octane product with absolutely no ethanol.
This is true of B.C. too (though not the Island) and select sites in Alberta (those without blender pumps).

Its like being on top is harder work, than just making like a seal and laying at the bottom

On a non-modified Porsche engine, use the recommended octane, no more no less. Lower then recommended octane will cause the computer to retard the timing and decrease performance. Higher then recommended octane burns slower so it also reduces performance, plus it costs more per L.
Ethanol content? It reduces overall MPG/HP a bit as ethanol has less stored energy then the equivalent amount of gasoline and it absorbs water. Most fuel systems (like anything made in the last 35 years) can handle it and the fuel system is completely sealed from the outside air so moisture absorption is a minimum. One of the 928 guys took all the fuel components and soaked them in E85 for months and nothing happened to them, so 5-10% ethanol isn't going to ruin your car even if it is older. Ontario has a law that all gasoline manufacturers have to average 5% ethanol content. Shell gets around this by putting 10% in their regular at 5% in their midgrade and 0% in their premium, so overall they meet the 5%.

Hey, it's your car and your $$$$.
Shell 91 is all I use in the P-car. Do a search in Canada on Rennlist. This has been hashed out over the years. A few folks here kept burning out their cats till they moved over to shell 91.
