Default Audi Parts advice?

For those who drive Audis as DDs, where do you guys get your Audi parts. Is Autopartsway the best way to go? Was quoted $720 for a rear caliper from the dealer but it is $440 online with free shipping. Also any experience with TRW parts?(calliper brand)

You could try Rockauto, they are in the U.S. though , so calculate shipping/ core return.. you still might save $

Are you on Audizine? If you go the dealership route, Niel @ Owasco Audi in Whitby, On offers discounts to members.

TRW I believe makes the oem caliper for Audi. although the aftermarket part may be slightlty different as it is probably a patent thing.

Try Sunset Porsche, they offer great Porsche parts pricing so they may offer the same on the Audi parts.

As you mention, I continue to have excellent luck with Autopartsway. It's hard to beat the combination of speed and price.

TRW i think is OEM now for Audi/VW. Autopartsway have realllly good prices for Canada. Only other cheaper solution is Suncoast Porsche in FL, USA. Im sure 1 or 2 Rear caliper will fit a Large Flat Rate USPS Box to Canada. Talk to Rick at Suncoast.

Also i buy alot from www.ecstuning.com and www.mjmautohaus.com

im getting my Front Brakes & Parts from ECU Tuning for my C4S in the next week or so

Shop around if you can wait for shipped items. Mark Motors in Ottawa has discounts to the local Audi group. If you ever need a hand I am close to the dealer and can pack and ship stuff for you.

check your local autoparts stores as well....

being that u probably get a credit for a core, it might save u money, as u won't have to pay for the return shipping.

Locally, I've used Bensons, and PartSource, you can request the TRW brand if that's what's recommended.

If the piston isn't in bad shape, you can also get a seal kit from the dealer.... it wasn't hard to do the rebuild. I did it on a rear caliper on my Jetta last year. Say $30 for a seal kit.

I use Midland Calipers, they are located on Midland south of Ellesmere Rd. (416-750-2479) in Scarborough. They do a great job on BMW calipers and they sell individual parts as well. Many guys have gone there after getting quoted hundreds and wind up very pleased with the results and prices. One guy had them rebuild his caliper in 1.5 hours, when they had none in stock.

EDIT: ****... I just noticed that you're in Halifax, NS. Give em a call any way you may wind up spending less with quicker service. I wouldn't be surprised if they did work for Parts Source and others.

Turns out I didn't need the caliper as the dealer first suggested. Just needed pads and rotors.

Thanks though gentlemen

"Worldpac" or "autocamping" both local Canadian outlets/warehouses, great prices & availability, check them out before ordering elsewhere outside of Canada, otherwise "Pelican" is pretty decent, though retail & the US, well.....there's lots of places

You can tell if you have a lazy or seized caliper. Buy one of those infred temp guns from Canadian Tire, after a drive you can "shoot" the left and then the right rotors and compare the tempratures. Do one axle at a time, starting at the rear or front doesn't matter. If you have a large temperatur difference between L & R you may have a lazy or seized caliper.

EDIT: Digital Temprature Gun on sale this week at CTC.
