Default LAP TIMES

I was thinking today while watching F1 practice that it would be fun to have a thread of Mosport and other Ontario or Quebec track laptimes. It could be structured like a group buy (list) where there are updates regularly
I could keep tabs on it if people would like to send the time in via Pm or post it below. I just thought it would really give others a clear view of where they stand when they put down a lap time while at the track. After a while this could really be a nice list.. Anyone? Provided we keep it honest and just have fun with it. I could see it being a goodtime

Mosport
_____________

1)rennlist USER, Which car, Tires brand, Date.......................Laptime

2)rennlist USER, Which car, Tire brand, Date.......................Laptime

3)rennlist USER, Which car, Tire brand, Date.......................Laptime

etc For example

a Formula Vee or F1200 car (60 HP, Min 1050 lbs) The FV lap record at Mosport is in the 1:38. In current F1200 form, the faster cars run in the low 1:40′s with the spec Kumho tires. compared to the 1:42.9 lap record for PCA I class (944/924S cars) This is just for fun, It's not a serious matter and i think after a while when laptimes are beginning to show It would give you some idea where you stand. It will never reach the police or insurance companies, (I dont see why it would have to) It's only for fun with us Rennlisters

Might be an issue with some people's insurance - I can see some folks not wanting to participate. Timing your laps meets the legal definition of racing, so if you're driving a street car with regular insurance, lap timing is a contravention of your policy.

That said, include the car type, too. If I told you my best lap time at Mosport was 1:52, it wouldn't sound too impressive. If I mention it's with a 2.0L engine, it's a bit better.

My best time around Mosport was back in the seventies. It's a bit of a haze but I believe it was about two hours. Hard to recall as it was dark and I was quite drunk at the time and my walking was unsteady.

my experience is most people have an inaccurate account of their laptime. that being said there is an app harrys laptimer for iphone that I have heard is accurate, but I would never time my laps. if any timing is occcurring at the track insurance will consider the event "racing" and normal coverage would be denied.

I have no plans to lap again but I used to do the odd 1:35 but consistent 1:36s at Mosport in my NSX with RA1s on it.

Mine is embarrassing considering the car I was driving...the car was my former hot rod - The Ruby Sleeper. I used a video camera and timed it when I got home.

82 SC with 3.6L, Street tires, 1:55

I was progressing well over the few times I was at Mosport during ownership, and each lap got better and better. Practice makes perfect, rihgt?.. My goal in life is to get into the 1:30s eventually... in any car... before I die. Lot's of time.

This is a video from that day - but not the one I timed, in case anyone is trying to bust me for lying...

Filming credits go to a very brave pontifex4

Wow, I miss this car... I think an experienced driver could have been in high 1:30s or low 1:40s with this set up...

Yep, thats me. It feels like a life time ago. I dont know if I have other videos but theres one. I timed it once that M3 (tuned, it was fast!) finally "let me by" by signalling at WOT, and I got 1:37/38. Not my fastest but who really cares!

That was a great car.

You gave a good account of yourself! That was a heck of a day, too.
