Default Should I sell my 02 996 C2 for an 07 Audi RS4

Took a test drive and very tempted. Any feedback will be appreciated and yes I did a search on the forum already.

The RS4 is certainly a very different car. First impression...it was a heavy beast, great hanlding, comfort, fit and fiinsh and the V8 growl. Unfortunately I can't afford to keep both unless I win the lottery this weekend. LOL
I always liked the Audis and wanted a rarer model (can't afford an R8) and for the current market price on the RS4, I figured it would be a good opportunity to get into an 07 compared to my 02 car.

That having said, I just had the clutch flywheel, RMS, IMS, AOS, coolant reservior, water pump, plugs and coils down less than 5km ago.

Kind of sucks to be moving into another vehicle now that the Porsche drives like new. The RS4 is one of the icons for Audi and the 996 seems like a dime a dozen these days. (Although mine looks sharp...LOL)

I have till Monday to decide...not sure what to do and will certainly miss this forum.

By the way...If I do decide to trade the car in...any interested offers to buy my 996. What would be the current market price be?

2002 C2 - GT3 MkII Aero kit, H&R lowering Springs, Short Shifter kit (under car) GHL Mufflers, BBS rims, 295/235 18 PS2, 14mm spacers all round. Powder coasted tips, roof spoiler, aluminum pedals, console, shfiter, crested headrest.

Clutch flywheel, RMS, IMS, AOS, coolant reservior (less than 2K km), water pump, plugs and coils done less than 5K km ago.

Think of it....maybe I should keep it...****....what to do?

Had the chance to flog an RS4 around Shannonville as a paid driver and LOVED it. It handles very well and the stock brakes stood up to continuous abuse lap after lap after lap. I totally fell in love with that car and would go for it over a 996.

How much is one? Given their high msrp (96k) I would think an m3 would be in reach. Worth cross shopping them.

You may feel like the 996 is a dime a dozen but I see a lot less 996's than B7 A4's and that's exactly what an RS4 looks like to almost everyone. If it's a sleeper ride you want that is great in the winter than the RS4 will fit the bill but it doesn't have anywhere the cachet of your current ride. If this is a summer car, I say keep the 996.

In my opinion, I would take the RS4 over the 996. With the stuff you have done to your Porsche you should have no problem selling it.

Yeah but I may have to trade it in unless I have a buyer soon.

Do you need or want 4 doors and/or 5 seats?

If no and no then...no.

RS4 is a phenomenal car. I've dirven it at VMaz on the autobahn and on racetracks but a big part of what makes a Porsche special is the way it looks...not to mention the way it feels. Two things the Audi can't touch IMHO.

I still love my RS4 as much as I did the day I bought it. I get bored of cars quickly so for me, that is saying a lot. I had my 997 Turbo at the same time as my RS4 and there were many dry sunny days when the Porsche was parked and I was driving the RS4!

I'd say go for it. Just beware of the hp robbing carbon build up issue due to the direct injection.

imho Porsches are not even close to dime a dozen. Audi 4 series are, though the rs4 is an amazing car.
That said to me it looks like every other a4 on the road, unless you look twice. Looks no contest your p car looks far better and exotic (if i can call it that). but it is your money and your car so you need to choose what you want, for me a 4 door sedan does not even make it on the list as a fun wekend driver.

True.

Here's how I would rate them:

Performance - RS4
Winter driving - RS4
4 doors - RS4
Depreciation - RS4 (lower production numbers)
Looks - 996
Desirability - 996 (at least for 99% of the population)

996 definitely looks much better and to the average person on the street they would choose the 996. However I think RS4s have taken a big hit in depreciation, an 07 or 08 can be had for under $40k.
