tax above exemption only .. we have an office in Indy .. when i go for the week i drive down and that gives me like 500 bucks tax free , and usually I am with an employee so i use his too .. never been an issue .. last time we came back with 3 sets and payed zippo .
got a set of winters for the audi , a set of kuhmo all season for the 911 fall and spring driving and a set of fusion HRs for the other Audi ..

Yes, if you are purchasing a used auto part across the border from the US into Canada then also you need to pay taxes on the same. Last time, one of my friend purchased used engine from www.automotix.net, so he paid tax but very minimum. So if you are also planning to get any used auto part across the border then make sure that you carefully select the dealer you will help you to enjoy concession on the tax.

Of the many, many times I have gone over my limit I have only once been asked to go inside. The case? I had bought some used rims from a private individual. I paid HST.
