Didn't recognize this car from our white run group. I would have noticed it because I used to run a 924S as well.

let's not make this white vs black issue
both groups have had incidents over the years.

This is a very interesting discussion.
To me, it's simple, you break it, you bought it.
Things can happen when you drive on the street too, that's why we have insurance.
When you are driving at an event and your insurance does not cover you for loss, then you are gambling with your car. If you can't afford the loss, perhaps you should either not DE, or get insurance to cover you when you do.

Didn't you get the memo, you are covered by insurance at DE events.

Don't want to turn this into an insurance discussion, but I guess it is somewhat relevant.
I'm not completely up to date on it, but last I heard it was related to the "definition of racing", and since DE's don't run timed runs, it's not really racing.
At this point it seems it's being settled on a case by case basis.
In other words, you will still have a fight on your hands, which equates to risk.
If I hit a deer, I would not expect to find myself fighting for coverage.
I would like to know how the insurance discussions are going for the 3 owners involved.

I seriously don't think the status quo will remain for very long.
This will eventually end up going one of two ways:
1) They will be required to cover it by letter of law, in which case it will become part of the questionnaire, disclosure will be on the part of the client, and rates will be adjusted accordingly.
2) They will have the rules changed to expand the definition of racing to encompass DE style events.

BTW, track events are not the only situation where this is an issue.
I also had to consider this when I bought my Jeep.
My insurance told me I wasn't covered for any damage incurred during off road excursions.

Ian, have a look at this thread.. In short, you'll have to fight, but they have to pay, in the end:
