Default Fair bit of carnage at UCR DE over weekend

As far as I can tell,Black Group had three good sized accidents, one hospitalization, and an additional two cars which dropped oil and coolent respectively.
Quite an unusual number of incidents.

Bad weekend for 996's. One scraped the wall resulting in rear cosmetic damage (hopefully that's all). A 996 turbo did not fair as well and has extensive damage to the drivers side maybe including bent axles.

The last one was a 924S rollover in turn 2. Amazingly the car wasn't pancaked and the roof held overall integrity. A testament to how well these cars are built!

Cost per lap sure was high for the black run group this event.

Derek: no rain, in spite of the forecasts. I was hoping that I'd see you there!

Seriously, man, if you're going to be an ***, at least make sense when you do it. I don't think this was intended as another "Rennlist is better than UCR" thread. Of course, if I'm wrong about what you meant, my bad.

I was at the track today and that lovely chap that fills up our fuel tanks (don't recall his name), mentioned the said accidents. He said the one that resulted in hospitalization, may have been medically related as the ambulance as well as firetrucks showed up but the car looked OK. I walked the track this am before the day started and there were at least 2 sets of tiremarks going of track. One in turn one mid way down heading toward tire wall at the bottom of one on the east side, and the second off the right side of turn 2.

When I walked up turn 2 from the bottom of the hill, it amazed me that it was possible to stay on this track.

Hopefully the participants are OK.

Hope the injured driver recovers quickly. Sucks about the cars, but it's just metal and plastic. Where does black fit on the PCA DE color scheme?

I spend a fair bit of time on the 993, 964, Racing/DE forums. I peruse many of the other forums from time to time.

I have to say, I feel a little shame when I head over here and see tripe like this. Between the street racing, incessant complaints about traffic laws, show-and-shining and dissertations on the merits of leather interior deivated stitching, I really wonder what's in the water around here.

Substantiated or not, when I hear that there were 3 accidents, someone in the hospital and a few major mehcanicals, I have empathy and feel bad for them.

Come on kids, you can do better than this.

Black is the advanced group in UCR and most of PCA.

Wow rough weekend. I found a carpenter's nail in my left rear after the second session. That was the end of my weekend - at least I found it before I had a real issue.

I'm concerned when I hear these stories because it's only a matter of time until someone lawyers up and that puts an end to DE days. Eventually someone's going to sue another driver, the organizing group, and even the racetrack, and the insurance premiums will skyrocket. When I was talking to the ambulance woman after my dad crashed a few weeks ago, she said the vast majority of times their services are required are DEs and lapping days.

This does seem to be a bad season for accidents.
