What gets me is that you even have to get your insurance involved when I'm assuming the other "douche" was 100% at fault. If I got asked at a later time if I ever made a claim, as insurances so often ask, I'd have to say no.

Oh - I so know your pain - literally. My injuries from being rear-ended 2 weeks ago have gotten steadily worse and I still haven't managed to get my car in for repairs. I now have been told I can't drive it due to my back not tolerating the heavy clutch.
And - while I'm totally not at fault - I too am no longer "claims free" now too.
I was so furios - I smashed the hood of the guys car wiht my rear license plate he'd knocked off. Wasn't nearly satisfying enough revenge.
Hope the car comes back together quickly and make sure to talk to your ins co about "diminished value" since that car is no longer accident free.

I can still claim that since I only carried "liability" when that dingledorf on the cell phone ran into the back of my motorcycle. His insurance had to pay for the total loss of my motorcycle; I didn't make a claim, my lawyer did.

The damage has been added up.! $10,868.00
not including an alignment, rim replacement, and incidentals.
Had a long discussion with the body shop manager. they are going to spray the entire front clip, but i am on the hook for "prepping" the non damaged areas.. (hood and left fender). I'll be discussing this with the ins. co. I might be retarded but in order to paint, you have to prep.. and that should be included. otherwise, i might say.. well F$%6 it.. just spray over the paint chips, and dirt, then whine that it does not match after the fact.
Because Ontario has no Diminished Value Claim allowance (quote) "The Ontario Auto Policy does not recognize "diminished value" but responds to the actual repair costs." I am hoping to get the 4hrs of block sanding and prepping included in the claim
I am also getting smoked side markers instead of the pumpkins.. although i have to pay for the left side, they pay for the right.
Alignment and inspection of the front end, LCA's, half shafts, steering rack has been agreed upon
Basically the body shop has been given the green light to fix the car to my total satisfaction... "whatever it needs" (quote from the appraiser)
Now i just have to get used to a very unexciting drive in a Maxima...
timeline for repair.... back to me September 6-8..
ugh

4hrs of block sanding for a fender and a hood????? If you ever sanded a car by hand, you can do an entire car in less time that that. Something isn't right.

If the front clip need painting to make a match then of course whatever dimples exist need to be fixed. No way you should be on the hook for ziltch. Next shop pleeze.
It is the curse of no-fault insurance, which imho benefits the insurance companies much more so than the insured.
