Default Crappy Tire is Crappy - Mobil 1 related

So apparently CT has discontinued carrying the 4.4L jug of Mobil 1 15w50 (they only carry the 1L 15W50 for something like $9) - WTF! Anybody know where I can source this in the GTA?

I've read a few other threads on here and others have said Walmart has discontinued and Crappy Tire was where they bought theirs in the past, but apparently that well has gone dry now.

Go with Castrol 5W50. They have it. 15W is ok for the summer but it's way to thick on colder days.

964 forum suggests 15w50 or thicker for our old air cooled cars. Thinner oil is fine for the watercoolers, but us old guys need molasses in our systems. Maybe Rally Guy, The Stig or some of the other GTA '64 crew can chime in on oil grade or preferrably where the hell I can get a 4.4 L jug of Mobil 1 15W50!!!!

PS - with all the leaks Rally Guy has, he probably has a warehouse full of those jugs.... jk

It's not that much more by the litre. Cheaper than driving around looking for it.
They cleared out the 5 litre jugs at $32 but only had 1 left!

It's been a while since I've bought synthetic, but when I had the boxster I used to buy Mobil 1 at Walmart. Cheaper than CT.

I buy it in 1L bottles, now. The price still isn't too bad, though I'll probably switch to a true synthetic on the advice of my mechanic next oil change. Not to start a religious discussion...

I know PartSource is owned by CT but do they still carry it? Houseing 9-12 one litre bottles is such a pain in the ****. What about Napa?

As much as I like CT, it has become less about cars and tires over the years. We really need Pep Boys or Autozone or something equivalent. I've only ever found 15w50 once or twice on the shelves. I use 10w30 or 10w40. Whatever is handy.

Another option is Brad Penn 20w50, great for older engines. Lots of zddp and holds pressure well. There is a distributor in Whitby. http://www.rpoil.com/auto_contact.htm I buy it in Waterloo and I think it was around $75 for a case of 12L.

Good question. We carry that formulation in other brands. I'll ask.

Sorry I was born that way.....

So you're saying 15w50 Mobil 1 will be available in 5 litre jugs? If so, when?
