SPOT THE DELIBIRATE MISTAKE

cut, the old plugs off,
fit new canadian plugs on
connected, 4 plugs to a canadian power strip, with surge protector
(total, 50wattsss)

set tranny to iput of 110v, connncted power striip to 240 out

so WHY DID IT GO BANG????

I know why..

so when i bouuht the 2 itemss toggeher, why did it not twig that connectiing a 110 v rated power strip, into a 240 out, might cause a problem

blew fuse in tranny, but cheeked all items and they work.

so I need to connect 4 items via an canadian adaptor into a 240 output
if it is a straight 6 way gang wth no power switch etcc, should be ok??

pictuures available if needed?

Adrian...They do make a 220/240 plug and receptacle for North American usage. They are used for 220 wall shaker air conditioners and other 220 small appliances. It is not like the one you show in your pix(that is for a dryer or a stove not quite sure the one you show ...those are different too), it is much like a regular plug only one prong is horizontal and the other is vertacle, they also have a ground.I think they have a 20 amp rating. If you go to home depot or hardware store you can make your own power bar using metal mounting boxes and 220 receptacles. It is quite important that you do not cross over your wires as a dead short could very easily happen. The plug I described will keep that from happening ...good-luck...Bill

ok am kinda confused,

here is pics

coming out of the tranny is is a 3 pin (canadian output)
all 4 of the plugs fit fine.

so standard power bar with switch and lamp is 110v,

so I've seen these 4-6 in one power connectors, which are just dumb, no switch, no fuse etc etc, can I plug that into the PSU, then the 4 plugs into thaat ?

right kinda resolved it,

I deceded to change the brief a little,

the 4 uk items I decided dont need all to be working at once, only 2!

So I put a splitter into the 220v out (as per pic) and that seems to be cool.

The peavey, I'll keep as a backup (with an associated step up tranny) and buy a 1.3k rig, I think it will be a lot lighter, as the voltage/transformer differeances between 110 and 220VAC

OH, one of my turntables, had a dodgy output, and needed soldering

sooooo

I think for the moment all is well

right, now on to bigger outputs....

The Peavey want to run again from a transfromer so the question
the peavey will draw upto 1500watts (at 240vac)

so my 110vac 110v => into a transformer (transformer rated at 2000watts)=> out 240vac

plug on my PV is 13amp/240vac (so assume is cable), cut off plug top, fit canadian plug, which is rated at 110v 3 pin (not sure what ampage but 15-20) grounded plug so it goes into the front of the transformer.

so, will the canadian 110v plug top be rated for this use, am not going to run the amp till anyones ears bleeds, but there be quite a substatial power draw
and dont want a blowen amp or worse at a show.

This is obviously more power than previous project of 2 or 3 items plugged into a 110supply

cheers
