Default step up transformers

****PS in th pictures, the mixer/ turntables and twin cd player are all dual voltage******

ok guys can you advise best place for a step up 110-220 transformer

I have several options which I'm hoping may help

In my basement, a setting up a DJ studio, now have the folowing

1> 1.3k amp
2> 4 cd/tape/minidisk etc players (totalling about 50watts)

so option 1

1> I understand that the dryers and cookers use 240VAC, and there is a dryer downstairs with a 4 prong plug, can I get an extension lead etc to run that to a 4 or 6 way gang electric connector.

2> Now if I wanna use my amp outside I'l need a step up transformer
I think I read somewhere the transformers need "2" separate plugs to work, i.e. 2 separate 110v inlets to supply the 240?

Any good places to buy them.

and also a REALLY SILLY Question

as the CD players actually have a internal transformer, will it not work if I just plug my 240vac cd player into the 110

thankxs again

Exclamation

We are 60 cycle here and your stuff is 50 cycle ... replace it.

Cheaper and safer. Don't connect to the 240 V stuff ... quickest way to get killed or burn the house down. There is a hell of a lot of current there ...

Default nothing like few photo's

ok, you can see the start of the setup, the dryer is quite a way from the desk,
but was maybe thinking an electrician can run a spur closer, maybe right on th box?

how easy/hard is i to do, as also have a babe in the house...

As Jaak wrote I think you will have an unsurmountable problem with the grid providing AC at 60 hertz as opposed to 50 in Europe.

In Little India in Toronto... I heard they have the experience to help you out... Not sure if it is still open as shops open and close on Gerrard all the time...

Whatever transformer you get, make sure it has a legit CSA certification.

This is not that big of a deal, and doesn't require any transformers.
You need:
-240 volt 15 amp receptacles and the matching plugs, which you will need to use to replace the existing cords ends
-install 15 amp double pole breakers in the panel ( however many you will need)
-connect into the panel. normal wiring is good for the voltage, although it is best to get the stuff with the proper red and black color code.

DON'T's:
-do not use the dryer plug - the current it takes to trip the dryer plug will exceed the ratings of any of your equipment, creating all sorts of hazards.
-do not do this yourself unless you have electrical experience - better to pay an electrician few bucks, and to get it inspected. Your insurance co might not be impressed with unusual uninspected wiring
-do not treat any of this lightly - the buzz you can get from 240V is significant.

We have a couple of 240V outlets in the kitchen for an espresso maker.
Also handy if I need to plug in a welder in the house. https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif

Another option is replacing the power supplies in each device with a 120 VAC 60 Hz. The manufacturer can provide the proper part number, or their service centers can do the change. May be cheaper than rewiring the house to meet code ... if it is allowed ...

Adrian...Just as a side note...in case you don't already know, add up all your units wattage ratings(they should be printed on the back of the units by the power cord usually)...make sure they are the AC watts not the DC watts from the secondary side...I hope you know what I mean...you may be able to purchase one unit to do all of your stereo equipment...It may be more cost effective for you...good-luck...Bill

the 100watter is like 18 bucks?

will have to test it, buying tommorow

The Dixie @ Matheson area is full of small asian electronic shops. Back in the day, I used to buy my satelite "testing" cars from them. Considering some of this stuff might come from China, I would go with twice the required capacity just in case they have fake labels.
