bell tv anyone?
I'm out in the country and have Bell Expressvu. I have had good service from Bell and very few problems. Yes, the service does go out when there is a storm coming but it's not that often. Yes, you do have to buy packages sometimes but it is not that big a deal. I added BBC Canada so I can get Top Gear and it was about $2.00 per month so you don't always have to add packages.

Does not matter what service you chose ... the pricing is the same across the board with all service providers. The success of the internet has caused the price to change. It gets very expensive to provide the "pipe" required from the fibre to routers to CMTS as well as space to place these. Any new service will be faster when it first starts up till it gets populated, then your back to the same issues.
With us the issue is the reverse bandwidth back from the house to the head end. There are only some much we can use till the TV channels 2 to 6 are rmoved and those channels placed in the UHF band; digital HD signals require a 10 MHz bandwith VS the analogue which is 6 MHz wide. To keep up the service we have expanded the number of circuits as well as paths which does get expensive. Think in the $100 Million's per year to keep up with the demand. Bandwith and circuits are not cheap and then add the transport costs to the net from providers ....

After reading all these threads, I decided to make my annual 1 hr phone call to Rogers this afternoon to shake the tree and see what deals fell out. Well, I started out by complaining about the $24.95 rental fee on my PVR HD, then moved onto the 4 cellphones, 2 landlines and internet service.
By the time the dust settled, I am now $125 richer a month with better service (ie: unlimited US & Can calling on my iphone) AND my PVR is now my own; didn't have to pay a dime (good thing I exchanged it a couple of months ago!) or agree to an extended commitment.
As far as UBB for the internet is concerned, I haven't even hit 50% of max in the last few months even with Netflix, Xbox live, Apple TV, etc... So there was no need to up the plan...yet.
I guess the squeaky wheel gets the grease after all.

I just dumped bell from my life 100%. Worst customer service on the planet just got tired of arguing with them over stupidity.
I will say however that the Bell TV PVR is way better then the Videotron unit which I think it the same one as Rogers uses.
Bell doesn't have Speed HD either. Was very nice to have HD this weekend for the 24hrs of Daytona.
In the end I saved $83 per month switching TV, phone and internet from Bell to Videotron with exactly the same options / channels etc.

My brother went from Rogers to Bell and back. Not sure what the problem with Rogers was, but I remember he really hated Bell for the snow in the picture and poor choice of programming.
Going through the whole renewal crap with bell right now.
What a bunch of maroons!
My PVR is screwing up and they tell me the new ones don't have PIP? WTF?
My picture quality has alwys been excellent and it is very rare that I have interuptions in the signal.
It is hard to swallow the $25/month
