Looking for an opinion on a 2007 Boxster S
Good morning guys,
I would just like to know what you guys think of a 2007 with CPO until 2013 Boxster S with 27km for $36k. It is a one owner Canadian car. Would it be a good idea to purchase it now(middle of winter) or will it depreciate any more after the winter. I am being told by the owner that he is taking a big hit. I bought my first Porsche last August a 2007 Cayman. What would I be in for with the Boxster S aside from more power and the open top.
Thanks,
Phil

45,600km's @ $41,775

9.800Km's @ $58K

That IS a good price and the CPO makes it a very good price and it might not be around too much longer. If the guy is looking to sell it now it may be because he has too or he doesn't want or have storage. You'll need a good PPI and documents on what has been done on this car. IE: IMS bearing ok? Can't comment on the ride/handling - others can do that.

On the surface looks like a great deal. Get a good, thorough PPI to make sure there are not unusual issues. However, if it is a normal, accident-free '07, that is a great, great price.

Sorry to be the advocate of the devil, but how can this car be a one owner car and CPO? My understanding is that the only way you could buy a one owner with a CPO would be at the Porsche dealership. If you are buying a CPO from a private party, he must have bought it used from the Porsche dealership and therefore he is the 2nd owner...

I think you can buy a 2 year warranty before the factory expires for around $3k which is what I was told for my Cayman. I will check with seller to see if it actually is a one owner as it may be a 2nd owner.
Thank you guys for raising that issue.

A low mileage 07 Boxster S for $36K is a steal if the car checks out. As far as depreciation is concerned, it will definately be worth more than that in the spring. So if the car has no stories, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it now !!

That's a good price for that car, my previous 2007 Boxster S sold for $55k in June of this year, and that was W/O CPO and 22000 km on the clock.
As far as the difference between the two, I believe you summed it up, more power and open top. The front rotor a slightly bigger on the S version and the calipers are red. Depending on options like PASM, S/C, Sport exhaust and such there really isn't a lot of difference between the Boxster & Cayman.

It does indeed happen to be a 2 owner car. The owner says he bought it Porsche-approved from the dealer in June for $58k including taxes and has been trying to sell since August. Would someone really take that big of a hit just because they do not want to store their Porsche for this winter? It was listed at $45k in August.
