Default Transport Cost from TFX

Hey Guys,

Just wanted an opinion on enclosed transport. I have a quote from TFX to go from Kansas City to Toronto for $1695 + $250 for brokerage. It's a little steep for me and was curious if anyone else had any opinions. I'm trying to stay away from open carrier, but it might be my only choice. I could get her shipped to Buffalo and then pick up at the boarder and drive across.

I was looking at shipping rates the other day also, came across this site with quite a few companies reviewed. Might help in your search.

I've used them (not for brokerage piece, car was shipped from BC) in the past. Super professional and the car was very well looked after during the entire process. Enclosed carrier was very important feature of their service.

I used TFX to move my car from California. It was about $2,500 incl brokerage fees. A bit steep but it got here in one piece. they have some rule that if your car holds up the other cras because of your paperwork, they charge a fee for every hour it is late. In my case, they told me all cars were held up at the border so they charged everyone an extra amount. That is complete and utter BS as far as I am concerned. I even called them on it and they wouldn't budge.

Thanks for the responses. Has anyone had experience with open carriers?

You think that's steep? Wait 'till you get your first repair bill!

Already had it.... $3000 before I've even touched the car!!! Going with a broker for $1000. They seem to have a good record, called Red Carpet. Anyone heard of them or used them?

The TFX crew are good people and you can't go wrong with them. I was planning to use them but because of freshly refurbished rims it was not possible. I used Intercity to the border and drove back. The cost was $1200 from Kansas City.

I contacted Inner City but they cannot pickup the car for 2 weeks, and I can't wait that long, same with TFX.

I've searched around and it seems that a lot of rennlister's have used brokerage companies and had good results. I hope I will fall into that category. I purchased a 1990 911 C2, black on tan from Kansas City. Having her shipped to Niagara Falls and will pick up from there. Will post pics once she is safely in my possession.
