Well, winter is over, and I am back. The girl sat all winter, as I made a great deal on a 1979 Mercedes 300SD Turbodiesel....sold an engine for $250, and bought the Merc for $300. Drove her all winter as she was rusty, and let the Porsche sit until I could work on her. And with the temps the way they were this winter, no way did I want to mess with any kind of plastic and risk more breakage.
So....the plan is to check the turbo out first, and see if it is spinning. However, I'm thinking I have major vacuum issues that need to be sorted regardless:
I've got a discussion going on in the 944 Turbo forum if anyone wants to chime in.

Well, she has sat all winter, with a little run around the block to see if the couple of small vacuum leaks I found were fixing anything. Nothing.
So, I decided yesterday to get back to work on it, and knew it needed a little oil. Couldn't crack the oil cap, until I really applied pressure to it.
Turned it over and the bottom of the cap looked like Bailey's Irish Cream.
I only spent $500 out of pocket buying it, right?

They beat everyone south of the border on list price on a MAF I ordered plus shipping was free. I'm ordering engine mounts next at $123.00 ea and Pelican want $125 ea US dollar, plus shipping. Autopartsway just charges HST - no shipping. Got the MAF in 3 days via UPS and it was well packed and no freaking brokerage charges!!

Torontoworker: be very careful with aftermarket engine mounts...they don't last and Porsche has patent on material used so aftermarket unless solid don't last ...ask me how I found out the hard way about 8 years ago and had to do the mounts twice! and I believe they came from pelican!

Thanks for that info Dan. Although on my car they are easy to change and at $123 a side, pretty cheap (all things P Car relative!). I costed out the RS mounts and read up on them but don't think I need them - esspy at $345 per corner!I just spent a few coin on new rear's (sport contact 2's) and am thankful I didn't need a new rim after the right rear blew out on the QEW. Two thumbs up for Conti's outside edge tire bead design that protect the rim until I could stop. At least I had time for a cigar at the side of the road while waiting...
