That would be fun, but first things first.

There'll be more than 400 ponies in there. Stock Z06 is 400......With massaged heads and a nice exhaust, you should be putting close to 400 to the ground. and the torque will be enough to keep the Earth from spinning. I used to have a supercharged 4th Gen Trans Am.....what a fun it used to be.

Thanks Mark, still a long way but it's getting there. It seems I might have solved the emissions issue tonight after a chat with the guys on the LS forum.

I realized shortly after starting this project that the track was where it's potential could be appreciated. So yes, everything is done with that in mind. Bigs Blacks and M030 plus Sparco seats, roll (harness bar) and a teamtech 6 point harness to keep the driver in place. Oh yeah, the engine is dry sump.

Very cool. This is sort of academic, but am I correct in my understanding that you could not run this at any PCA event, though?

I was at a PCA DE day a few years ago and a guy had a red 951 with an LS engine and he was doing laps. As far as competition goes it's a bit difficult to fit into a class unless there's one called 'over the top'. If I was going to race I would choose something like Spec 944 where everybody has pretty well the same car. That would be fun.

A very similar car came up a few years ago for the PCA Club racing - I think it was a 944 with a V8 - don't know if it was an LS1 or what it was, but in the end they did disqualify him from competing, IIRC. I think they said in order to qualify as a Porsche the engine and chassis had to be Porsche. Something like that. For DEs I'm sure it's fine - nobody would probably notice anyway.

Good point. I have kinda thought that one through and considering what I do for a living the theft protection is notch above average.

Some "Porsche" guys get thier thongs in a knot when they realize you have built a fast car without a Porsche engine...what? you can do that!!!.... if those same guys make decisions in the UCR PCA, you may be out of luck. I feel sorry for them...

However, they don't own Mosport, so you can happily run in other groups if they give you trouble!!

With that said, I can get you in touch with the "guy with the red 944" and the corvette engine. PM me...
