Montreal GP weekend
Hello folks,
Is anyone driving to GP weekend in Montreal on June 11, 12, 13. I'm going to head there on Friday the 11th around 2pm and was going to fly but then thought it would be fun to caravan if anyone was heading that way....
Looking forward you heading back to Chapters for the GTG so anyone interested can catch me there or otherwise reply here. Thanks,
Sergio

If you think Barrie OPP were p***ks - just wait until you get past Cobourg and enter what I call the 'Kaddafi Line of Death' - Napanne OPP territory!! They rub their hands in glee when the GP weekend approaches. Wives of OPP officers are told their husbands cannot have any time off leading up to and just after this weekend. There are many stories in the big city and I have quite a few concerning this weekend in the past...
Just be aware that they back up their cars right up on the backside of bridges and nail you with instant on from behind and have a whole crew waiting up the road. I've seen the cars parked 10 deep along the road and they are always the high end type stopped. I got saved by a guy two years ago in a 340 going monster like all over his gas pedal doing something near double my 125kph as he flew past me and into the beam of a cop hiding behind a cement bridge pillar in the center grass area. F16's get shot down before Piper Cub's mode!!!
And after you get through Napanne’s zone – the Kingston OPP ‘kill zone’ for Americans who have come across the Bridge from NYS awaits… They were really P’d off last year when there was no GP and now that they are all equipped with the new radar detector-detector's from a company in OZ land (paid for by the Insurance Industry!) they can’t wait for Americans in their shiny Ferrari’s blasting along the 401 eastbound thinking our highway is a well designed autobahn.
Add in the Cessna is moved from Buttonville to Brockville airport for this very weekend and you get a clue for what is instore.
So I would actually NOT recommend anyone going down in any sort of group. I would have said this before the Barrie OPP Custer F*** happened but now it's open season it seems on groups in sports cars.
You'll be bored crappless following another P Car at the speed limit anyway. Lone gunmen always have a better chance of sneaking by then a noisy pose anyway.

yup we are going, but we are heading out Wednesday or Thursday so we can catch the Porsche Meet and other Meets aswell... Last year i left friday and go there Late Friday night and missed out on quite alot of fun...
We are cruisng down about 3-5 cars and 1-3 Bikes
As for teh Cop, in 2008 when we went, the cops were cool... Infact we passed a few cops they just waved their hands to slow down and were just standing there with a smail on looking at all the cars go by... but they were Speed Traps and were pulling people over on the way Back... But on the way there i saw Zero Cops... I was doing

Cool, cool...I read with interest about the Kaddafi Kill zone (AKA OPP) but not intended to go so fast as to need reverse thrusters to stop after Smokey waves me the index finger. Simply thinking that even a modest buck twenty five has to be better than CATSA bullying me to take my belt and shoes off at Lester B. ...Zookie can you send details? What's the P-meet all about, etc.?

I'm heading there on the Thursday, but in my friend's stealthy Asstech along with a convoy of 20 other ones. We will be waiting again for the Zookie fly by somewhere by Brockville. When I went up in 2008 we didn't see the expected level of police activity either.

I take the train and drink all the way myself... No worries about car thieves, parking etc. You spend most of the weekend downtown in traffic, walking from bar to bar and you go to the race on the Metro - so whats the point?

I might be running down the 401 in the family's Toyota Mini-van, so if I get pulled over I can blame the "mystery throttle" and cry that i was soooo afraid I couldn't use the brake/ignition key/neutral to slow me down.
