At over 400 bucks they must be putting in the new anti IMS failure oil I've heard so much about. LOL

Seriously? That's just crazy, I hope that includes the Techs time for a coffee and suntan break.

I took our Honda in today for some maintenance stuff and had them do an oil change. $22 for oil and filter change. Now, that's just plain-jane oil, non-synthetic, and sure, it's a Honda, not a Porsche, but still, $22 vs. $400 tells you something.

A portion of it is probably related to the price of making a mistake. If the tech makes a mistake (they're only human) on a GT3 engine, the dealership would be looking at a potential $45k crate engine vs. a $3k engine for the Honda.

I just did my 2yr/30k service at Downtown Porsche and it came to $696 which included an oil change, air filter replacement, pollen filter replacement and a bunch of other checks including a computer download. It's not cheap, but it's not too bad when you consider that the labour hrs is probably not that far off, and the oil and parts add up to around $250 of that bill.

Come by my shop, I'll get ya 9 litres of oil (Total - same stuff the dealer uses) and a Porsche filter installed for $150+ tax. No appointment needed and if you pay cash or debit you'll earn $1.10 in Canadian Tire money!

Just did mine yesterday!

I need the dealer to reset the all-mighty computer, unless the independent shops can do it as well.

Not sure about the newer cars but on my car, disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 60 seconds resets it.

That one definitely needs a obd2 to reset that. Not all obd2 can do it though. I am sure Autoworks can. I know Hunter motor sports resets our Cayenne's when he does the service.
