Put the kids to sleep every night with a recording of your car playing in the background. :-)
Hell, sometimes I uses to have to take my oldest for a drive to get her to sleep.

There is more to the anger then just waking up the kids I think. Most kids sleep like rocks - the odd one has sleeping issues but unless your running raw headers and the kids sleep above the garage most wouldn't be bothered. I think there is a resentment mode going on and the kids waking up is only part of it.
