Default PCA Race this weekend at Mosport

http://www.pcaucr.org/index.php/driving/clubracing

This weekend is the PCA race at Mosport. Couple of Rennlisters, including me will be there. Weather looks a bit iffy. Might actually give me a chance!

Boyz in GTC4 (997 Cup) setting some pretty quick lap times yesterday....Pat Kelly was 1.235 I believe...Randy Oswald 1.237...Empringham (instructor) was 1.231...I did a PB of 1.2502 and think I have another second or so in it...There are about 10 -997 Cups this weekend and about 7 -996 Cups, in a run group of about 40 (fast!) cars...SHould be some good racing!

It wasn't enough unfortunately! Pat Kelly (IMSA Cup regular) did a 1.224 in qualifying on Saturday and walked away with both sprint races in GTC4. That is a new track record for a stock 997 Cup and is FASTER than Timo Bernard at last year's IMSA Cup race during the ALMS (1.228). Randy Oswald was a very respectable 2nd to Pat in both races. I finished 5th in the first race, and 3rd in the 2nd race and top 10 overall in both races.

Enduro today was more dicey though....started raining during warmup lap and track was wet with the wave of the green. Everyone was on slicks. Anyone here like driving at Mosport in the rain??? Try it on SLICKS!! Lot of cars went off, double yellow means pits are closed, so the rest of us just have to grin and bear it...keep the car on the track, hope it dries, or the pits open. Thankfully, it stopped raining just as the pits opened, so those of us that probably would have switched to rains, kept the slicks on and stayed out or went it for our regular pits.

I was running 4th overall and 2nd in class, when.....(and this happens to ALL 997 Cups at some point), the gearbox went and I lost 3rd and 4th gears. Uggh...

Still, finished 3rd in class and 9th overall!

Thanks Dan...I can tell you that I'm reasonably comfortable at 1.25 and know I can get to 1.24 with a couple of adjustments. But to get to where Kelly is at 1.224 will require some surgery on my nether regions to get me some kahunas the size of watermelons!!

Are you allowed to run telemetry? I like in F1 the Engineer will say "Brake 10m later, the car can do it" and like robots these guys brake 10m later. Maybe you could run telemetry?

Awesome results regardless! Any pictures or video?
