Default Sumitomo Tires?

Okay, I'll try this here in addition to the Sandor forum. There's a lot of talk in the 996 forumn about Sumitomo tires. Does anyone have any idea if they're available in Canada?

Every tire company out there makes good tires and bad tires.

Well I've got 285 30 18's on the back and 225 40 18's on the front.

I can probably get by this summer but it's never too late to shop....

Like I said, the Sumi's seem to be getting a good review on the 996 board......

I'm looking for the same size/set.
TireRack has them but hoping to source locally.

Well tirerack.com does indicate that they'll ship to Canada for about 150.00, to Alberta anyways, but I have no idea what duty might be.

Can't beat the price though. Almost 4 for one!

!
Last time I checked Tirerack and UPS had it sorted out that you pay all the fees, taxes, duties, brokerage..etc up front when you checkout at tire rack. Check it out.

Tiretrends, a Canadian alternative, carries them but at a much higher cost:

305.95 each for HRZ III in 285 30 ZR18

Tire Rack's price is 179.00 U.S. of course

Okay, so I'm told by a guy who has an importer that the duty on tires is 7%. Makes importing from the U.S. attractive, doesn't it?

I got a recommendation from Franzl at Auto Select on the Toyo T1R tire. He compared it to the S0-2, SO-3, and a couple of other good brands and said for many reasons it was better than them all. His recommendation is good enough for me.
