Default Need To Borrow Someone's Front Wheels/Tires for a Test Drive

Can someone lend me their 996 front wheels and tires that they know are balanced out properly please? I need to check if a steering wheel vibration goes away or not.

I just need to put them on, drive for 10 minutes or so on the highway and then will come back and put them back on your car.

I've tried balancing and aligning the car with no luck so this is the next step before looking at more expensive solutions.

I'd help but mine are in storage. Difficult to get them out right now and being in a Condo I would have to put them back into storage.

Did you get the wheels balanced at a tire shop, their machines can tell right away if there is problem.

then why do you think there may be an issue with the wheels?

because there's nothing else loose or wrong with the car that would cause the problem (same shop checked everything else out).

the tires are a couple of seasons old, so they could have a spot in them. it doesn't cost anything to check and is the easiest thing to eliminate so if i'm going to proceed methodically, i'm gonna start here. Then move on to bushings, wheel bearings, steering rack, alcohol and a revolver

More then likely they are the tires. Balancing them is fine but doesn't put any weight on the tire, if a chord in the tire is defective then it will only show up while driving on the road and under stress.

i would suggest you get a "Hunter road force" balance. it mimics load and speed. i had my Michelins installed on BBS wheels done at an Acura dealership $150. That is half the price a Porsche dealer charges and the Acura dealer use the same if not newer machine.

You can use my set of snows on turbo twists. They are balanced. Of course I'm in London, so it will be a hike.

I'm in London once a week, and don't mind picking them up and dropping them off, depending on where in London. I'll be there this Saturday, then not again until Monday the 2nd. Omar, you could drive out to my place in the Hammer, put them on here, then take them for a spin (we're 2 minutes from the 403) then swap them back and leave them here for me to drop off.
