Zookie,
I picked one of these up last year and have used it all season. Its not bad when its working but its tempermental and a bit difficult to use. Very difficult to know if its on or off while sitting in the driver seat. There is no visible on/off LED on the back side of the camera only on the front face. Good for mountain climbing but not for driving.
Sound sucks big time. Just assume there is no sound.
Very short battery life, You need a new alkaline AA per 20-30 min session. No problem as long as you remember to change the batteries after every 30 min track session.
Picture quality is good for general track use. Stability is fine- no significant vibrations.
One nice feature is that you can set it to record upside down. I use it this way often. Wheel shots with suction cup work well also.
All in all its a good general use track camera for the cost.

yah, I know. As I understood it, webbie was just saying that a external mic if you have the jack works fine. You don't need an expensive bluetooth mic.
I've heard of guys opening up there camerra and converting there built in mic to an external jack. Wouldn't be to hard I am sure Cleanme can whip something up!

Greg explained it perfectly.
I don't have "Cleanme" skillz, last time I opened my wii, I have 20 screws and a few plastic parts left over when I put it back.
Probably I'll just sell mine (Action HD) and upgrade to the new one.
Sidenote: I use Sony Vegas to process the video, it can combine video and audio from various sources if you have to

I know how to combine a/v source (afterall, I did study film production a gazillion years ago), but I was hoping that you'd figured some wizardry to get it to sync without using some sort of primitive "slate" or mark. Well with all the snow and months before the next track day, I'll have plenty of time to figure out a solution. I either use imovie or Final Cut Express depending on the complexity of the project.

I've been very happy with my AIPTEK, but I'd love to get one with an external mic, that's the only downfall of the older version (must keep windows up to get decent sound).
