Default CTEK Chargers @ Canadian Tire

Any looking for a battery charger might want to consider the CTEK 3300 @ Canadian Tire for $59.99. I picked up a couple yesterday and like the product.

Cheers

Its a good price.
I paid about $80USD last year for mine through Amazon.
I think it's the same unit as the "Porsche Charge-O-Mat II Battery Charger" that goes for around $120USD but w/o the cig lighter socket adapter.

For sure it's a good price, and it's a sale. Only problem, it doesn't include the lighter plug option. You can find it around US$10.00 on ebay.

Yup that's a good price. It looks just like mine. I paid 3x that much for the Porsche version, back in the day when I actually had money...

The charger comes with a special plug that connects directly to the batter terminals so you can hard wire it in. Then you can just plug and unplug the charger as needed. I use it on both my P-car and RX-7 so I just move it back and fourth every few weeks in the winter. It is one of the best computer controlled chargers you can get. Well worth the money.

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I just picked up the CTEK 3300 from C/Tire and I'm wondering if the general preference for your P car is the cigarette lighter version or the straight battery connection. I also noticed that the CTEK 3300 comes with convenient connectors that permanently hooks up to the battery a la plug and play. I have never left something plugged into an electrical outlet unattended for more than a few hours. I usually remove the battery and bring it in the basement - How safe are these trickle chargers?

I've used the "Battery Tender" on the VW Cabriolet every winter for the last 8 years without a problem. A good trickle charger can stay plugged in all winter with no danger of overcharging the battery. At the price of the CTEK/Porsche charger, I would expect it to perform the same way.

I do the direct connection to the battery . My car the cigarette lighter is not active with the ignition off so it could never tend the battery anyway with this adapter.
Something to consider if you have an "ahem " older car

If the charger comes with the direct battery connect option I find most people use that. I do. I've been suing trickle chargers for various cars/jobs for quite awhile and have never had an issue with one over-heating.
