As the title says, would like to purchase one of these for a friend of mine. Anyone know who or where to begin looking since trader doesn't list vehicles that old?
Not really looking for a ratbox one, but a good example with solid frame and motor that would be ready for some pimping (i'll give you all a moment to recoil in horror at that statement).
anything from the 1st gen to the 3rd gen would be great, something that won't require e-testing

A couple years ago someone on Pelican pm'd me because there was one for sale locally and he wanted me to have a quick look. When I was talking to the seller, he said there's a whole network of these guys, just like there is with vintage Porsches. Find your way in there, and you'll find tons. If you want, look up widebody911 on Pelican - he's really into old VW buses, he buys them all the time, fixes them up and collects or sells them or something. He's in California, but could point you in the right direction.

Check out the Samba forum. Lots of vintage VWs and some early Porsches too.

Look in Vancouver or Victoria. There's lots of older of everything on the Island, especially around Victoria and in remarkably good condition.

^ VERY cool as a matter of fact ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
we're probably going to put a nice torquey deisel motor into it if we can find one that will fit, and then use it as a hauler.
