Sweet! Thanks Greg, this has always been on my must-do list in the future. You Rennlist guys should run it, I know there are always Porsches running i it.
It's on my life's to-do list. Fortunately, it's also on my dad's, and he's got better funding than I do! Believe it or not, my wife is interested, too. Ask Ernie at Mantis to tell you about his adventures and you'll be tempted to sign up right away!
I am seriously thinking about this for 2009, and wil buy something suitable for the purpose. It is a car breaker of an event..(the program sure got that right), so I will think about the right car...something used..Maybe a Subaru WRX or some sort fo Audi Quattro. Will do the touring category...it sounds like a blast!....
Interestingly enough, the first AWD entered in the 2007 Targa Newfoundland finished in 8th position...
Maybe my Supercharged VR6 would do well there...
Older cars will do better than newer cars in the Targa because of how the times are set. A Cayenne Turbo would be a poor choice for a tarmac rally car. Too heavy and too big for the small twisty roads of the Targa. A properly prepared, 70's 911 has shown to be a competitive car (Glen Clarke won in 06).

I was about to say a R32 would be a good car, and given the quality of your rebuild your engine would do great.
I just finished downloading 2dvd's about this guys quest to ride the Paris to Dakar Rally. Really interesting, I'll upload it
