I also need to replace my battery. I will drop by PartSource. Assume Exide is the brand; is Group 48 a size? Model? If you don't mind could you check what the correct model is?
Thanks.

I dopped by Canadian Tire this afternoon and the only Group 48 battery they had was the Eliminator brand. Sales guy asks what make/model and I tell him, so he pulls me aside and says "don't tell them it's for a Porsche or they void the warranty." Says they don't stock parts for Porsche so even though it will fit, they will not warranty it.
What's with that? Guess I'll check out PartSource next week. Pongo/zookie; again if you don't mind could you check what the Exide model is that you ended up with? Everything still ok with it?
Thanks.

Funny, I went to Canadian Tire today to get some oil changing tools, and was not sure what size filter wrench to get. I asked the guy if he could look up the filter on the off chance that they have some version of it that I could use to measure with. I told him it was for an '86 Porsche 911 and he asked me "Who makes Porsche again?"

mmm well Group 48 is one Size smaller than OEM... So if you want a smaller Lighter battery with more kick 48 is your friend... You can go One Size bigger than OEM or 2 Sizes smaller than OEM... 4 diffrent sizes that will fit your Battery Box... I dont know if the Smallest size has the same Power or more as OEM... if it does have the SAME or MORE power than OEM i would go the smallest... Lighter Better... Sometimes Smaller is better :P

Yes, agreed that smaller/lighter is better, and that is what I want. I just wasn't familiar with the term Group 48. I was wondering if that was the battery model number. So if I ask for Group 48 at PartSource they'll know what I'm referring to?
Thanks.

Yes... look at the Numbers for 48 and ask for one Size Smaller... if the Numbers are very close... get the Smaller one... i Should have done this

PS: if you ask for a Direct Replacement for the 996, the battery they will give is the One Size bigger than OEM...

Thanks for the help. So you have larger than 48 and 48 is what I want or smaller than 48 is what I want? Cheers!

I like the Kirkland ones from Costco...only about $50...although I haven't used them on the pcars, the Benz loves it! and I am going to replace the one in my wife's A6 with Kirkland.
also it has 2 year full replacement warranty not prorated like the dealers.
Go for 28 off: are you gonna be skiing this year if the snow ever melts?

that seems kinda odd.
why would they even ask? you bring the battery in and tell them it is no good...period.
I know costco doesn't even check the battery, they just give you a new one at no cost.
