Apparently Porsche does not list their battery specs with Cdn Tire (I presume because they want you to buy it from them). Does anyone know the proper replacememt battery type at Cdn Tire or another place to buy them?

nah...well..not if its a 996...we have a big huge tray in which a battery just sits with a base mount tab to keep it from sliding. you can put pretty much any battery you want in there as long as it has an edge so that you can screw the metal tab to lock it down.

because the battery tray is removable as well...you can drill holes to adapt all sorts of batteries to it as well.

I have a interstate in my 78sc , not sure what goup it is but it has top posts with the lip on the short edge for clamping.

i think the older 911's might be the only cars with batteries bigger than the 996's

Mantis advised me to buy an Interstate to replace the shot OEM battery in my 99 boxster. My 72 911 has a Motomaster or something like that in it. Older 911s were originally built with 2 small 6V batteries, one on either side. Most (including mine) have been converted to a single 12V battery. No 12V battery will fit in the battery box properly.

Omar my car has space for a HUGE battery . in fact the one it cam with was massive, not as big as a 996 , but certainly bigger than it's battery

Yes it is a 993 1996 Cab. OK so I will get a group 48 battery from Cdn Tire. I presume they will know what group 48 means....

Part Source will be better store to hit ... better batteries as well as prices.

Parts Source is owned by Canadian Tire, however they apparently both have access to the same parts suppliers it really comes down to if they choose to stock the parts locally or not. I suppose with Parts Source they may provide additional selection as their ultimate objective is to fill the Canadian market so that it is less attactive to large US retail parts companies such as Advance, Autozone or Pepboys.

bought a Champion Exide Performance from Partsource - Group 48. Looks like it may have 2 drainage tubes?
