I don't have a big problem with cracking down on drunk driving, but I do have a problem with another example (like the "road racing" law) of the police being in a greater position to administer "roadside justice" without recourse. There is a court system for a reason....

Absolutely!!!!
Maybe local and OPP can start working on a 'green' approach to all of this- instead of killing trees with all the paperwork, they can just shoot us roadside. MOT can scoop us up with the racoons.
Its time to reel these twits in. Grassroots anyone?

Exactly the attitude that makes even low blood alcohol levels dangerous, IMHO

Yes, about the glad part.

Unless I am super human, I don't believe the studies.
I play games that require more hand eye/foot and concentration then normal driving requires and I'm pretty much, if not the leader then in the top 3, my alcohol levels are way over .8

I lost my license for a year once, I was able to pass all the tests, fingers to nose, walk the line. Hell I could to it blind folded. I blew a .9

I hear you ....I also play sports that require those skills, and I don't mind a pop or two,....but getting loaded and them getting behind the wheel is not something that should ever been attempted..ever!

Good point.

I am not concerned with this law as I don't drink and drive. You may think "I can pass the sobriety tests with my eyes closed", but after you run down a mother and her kids at a crosswalk, try and live with yourself. All it takes is one lapse of concentration...and let's face it, you are way less attentive after a few bevvies.

I have a 16 year old son, who will be getting his G2 next month. Bad enough for him that it's in the middle of winter with snowy, icy road conditions. But now we are entering the Christmas party season, and do you think I will feel safe with him out there and have some idiot hammered out of his mind getting behind a wheel and trying to get home without hitting anyone. I know my kid doesn't drink "yet", but being an inexperienced driver, he doesn't have all the skills for driving at night...That scares the HELL OUT OF ME!!!

Im not saying Im a saint when it comes to stuff like this....hell I don't even know how I made it home some nights when I was younger....but that was over 20 years ago....and time have certainly changed...for the good I might add.

But if I know I going to get "loaded", I call a cab, there and back....so it costs me $50, give or take....small price to pay to get home safely and worry free...

Now I agree that .5 is to low, and the cops and MADD do take it to the extreme...I still maintain that 2-3 drinks is fine, for me any ways.
