Brad

If you want to attract the old car crowd, you might want to look into offering oil. Yes, plain ole oil. With the changing formulas on most oils, it is getting increasingly difficult to find oils with sufficient ZDDP additive. It has become a 'hot' topic on the older car forums. Or you could find & offer a ZDDP additive like GM's now discontinued EOS.

I'll admit, I know nothing about the subject other than the threads on Rennlist & Pelican. The easiest thread for product discovery is Ultimate Motor Oil Thread or Why we hate CJ4/SM oils on Pelican.

Here is the thread on Rennlist What Oil for older air cooled Porches?

The executive summary shortlist is:

Brad Penn Racing Oils (same as the old Kendall from the '70s);
SWEPCO 306;
Redline;
Royal Purple;
Castrol GTX High Mileage
Mobil 1 V-Twin MC 20w-50.
Mobil 1 MX4T 10w40
Royal Purple Max Cycle 20w50
Amsoil m/c Harley V-twin 20w50
Castrol Syntec "Classic" 20w50
Valvoline VR-1 20W-50 -it is marked "Non-Street Legal".

While many of us don't drive more than 3 - 5K kms per year & we don't really need a ZDDP oil, we would still buy some if easily available at a semi-reasonable price.

Does the current crop of Pfaff Service Technicians even know what a 944 is... maybe in pictures, eh.

Hey Brad...You and I have had many dealings in the past I can say for the most part mostly all went well. I am looking for a few things for my 996 TT, I have dealt with Pfaff Tuning in the past and I found them to be very very expensive in comparison to other " Tuning shops ". I think it only fair because of you mostly always taking care of me at the dealer that I would give you guys a shot on some parts. I am looking for a Samco Boost hose Kit with the F hose, and DV's that can handle up to 1.5 Bar. I will need other things but that’s on my short list for now. I know this is not a big sale for you, but baby steps. Thanks
Paul

Hey Mark,

They actually have 2 techs at Pfaff Porsche that have been aroung long enough to have worked on the 944 range. One of them even worked on a Turbo cup team. I also spent three years preping Turbo cup cars for Pfaff as well as a few other competitors in the series....... so yes we remember them...!!! although we dont see them much anymore.....

Brad, nice to see you post. I have an office in TO, so I get to Pfaff from time to time. Glad to see you will be a member. But, help out Rennlist and become a site sponsor as well, as indirectly your posts will drive business your way, and the Rennlist rules........
It would be fair to guys such as Keith at YYC993 and others who gain some benefit but give back as site sponsor.

Up until recently, the Canada forum sponsorship on Rennlist was locked up. But I don't see a banner now, so maybe it's available? If so, Brad, it was very reasonably priced, as these things go, and it would be a cool way to show your commitment.
