The only guys that complain about 944s are the guys that haven't driven one! Sure, they're not as powerful as a 911, but they're also not as expensive. The 944 IMO represents one of the best values in terms of power and fun you can buy. That's probably why they're so popular at the track.

I have an 83 944 as well as my 911 - I paid $1700 US for it which at the time was about $2K CDN and I was sold on its bargain value within 10 minutes of driving it!

Almsot the exact same situation for me Christien, I had an 84' 944 which was unfortunately rear ended as I sat at a light and was written off. Went for a test drive in an 88' 944S and I was sold all over again. The 944Swas like a whole nother animal compared to my old 944. Unfortunately I have only had one opportunity to drive a 911, which was at the dealership I work at when one was brought in on consignment. So I am open to taking a test drive at the meet.

If I'm there, you're more than welcome to take my car for a drive. You break it, you bought it! I know a lot of guys aren't down with letting other people drive their car, and I absolutely understand that, but my car's seen enough owners and drivers that I'm pretty open to other people taking her for a spin. My car is also old and not exactly high hp (135 when running at peak, which it's not!). You really need to have it on the track to appreciate what she has to offer.

Hi guys, that was very interesting going through all these messages. You seem to know each other rather well, I did not have a clue about this group until the Iceman pointed it out ot me on the big Rennlist forum (so blame it on Ice). I live in Burlington and have a white '79 911 Targa. I often go North on Guelph line in summer time and then on to Campbelville, there are lots of nice drives on the escarpment. Guess newcomers are welcome at least from what I've read, I'll try to show up at Lowville around noon on Sunday, hopefully the weather will cooperate. Thank you,

George

George; you are more than welcome to join up at Lowville but the fun starts at Caledon. I'll be leaving Burlington Burloak/Qew 10ish.

Grrrr, that's bloody early for a Sunday morning, don't you think? just kidding of course, I'll see what time I get up. Can you be a bit more more precise on that Burloak/QEW starting point? I am at 3398 Rockwood, this is basically Fairview and Walker's Line. Thank you Jim,

George

Well thats awfully nice of you, thanks man. Although my car is probably not even running 135 hp haha, I might be at 110, although I would love to get it on a dyno.

That car is 189 hP in standard trim if it is an S , and you can get a little more if you advance the cam timing a touch . !!!

Thanks!!

Hey Lucas, I *might*. It depends if my wife decides to come. I'll probably be bringing our daughter one way or another, but she's in a carseat in the back, so if Stef doesn't come, you can ride along with me, if you want.
