Default 944 transaxle rebuilding....

Who is recommended here in Ontario?

Experience, pro's and cons?

I just got a quote from Ian at 944Online in Florida...$1200 USD plus shipping for all 8 bearings, gaskets, backlash reset and fluids.

Shipping is a pain.

Yeah shipping won't be cheap or simple.

You could try Henry at Refined Motorsports: 416-248-9777

He did a tranny swap for me last week and was very efficient about it.

Rudy Bartling @ www.group88.ca has a lot of experience. I bought a transaxle he had rebuilt, seems great. I have been told that as part of his Porsche factory training he was required to do it blindfolded...I suspect he can also do it with his eyes open.

Cheers
Bill

you can buy my turbo transaxle with oil cooler and lsd. Heck if you drive it here, I'll even swap it in for free!

howling on decel...backlash noise...pinion bearings are showing wear.

I'm a bit of a nutjob about noises in my car. I want it gone.

Check the clutch Throw-out bearing and the Torque tube bearings first... these trannies are tough for the amount of power a 944 or 944S have. If you drive them with care, they shouldn't fail...
