Hi Omar
It used to be 15%, but I am not totally sure (12 years ago or so).
However, I have seen 20% and over several times.

Tint shop should know. My detailing guy does tints on all sorts of BMWs, Minis, Porsches and Benzes for dealerships. He seems to know exactly what will pass.

i'll call my tint guy and ask...you could probably get away with 30-35%...anything more becomes really dark.

first up on the list tho: replace the 400$ piece of carpet i lost.

lesson learned: never take anything for granted.with porsche, everything costs a fortune

+1. I got a ticket for 20% on the driver's window a few years back. Cop pulled me over just because of the tint. "I couldn't see ya through yer winduh".

Tell me about it -- I just screwed up my visors trying to take off the airbag stickers, and checking prices for replacements (hopefully the UK ones w/o the stickers).

Ontario - For the driver’s compartment, right and left, no film can be installed that would substantially obscure visibility from the exterior. Behind the driver’s compartment, any film can be installed.

Its up to the cop. Driver and front passenger, legally no darker than as original, back of that anything. 35% for the fronts isn't to bad as it allows 65% light transmission and most of the time you'll get away with it. Just a hint though, its best to do the whole side with the same %. it looks best. I like metallics with a hiny of grey. That bounces huge Infra red rays, keeps the car cool and looks cool.

I can't say enough good things about Michaelangelo's at Broadview and Eastern. It's a hole in the wall, but Mike is an unbelievably diligent detailer. He does a lot of tinting for dealers, and for us most recently the Mini. Really superb work, very reasonable prices. I'm sure there are others, too, but I can vouch for this guy.

its been awhile but we had a discussion of this over on the CASC boards,

1) % value is misleading, first of all a police officer is not going to be carrying around equipment that will measure the % of light a window absorbs

2) another point for %'s is that viewd from the side the two tinted windows add up to a greater %... so really its a moot point

3) some cars come factory with a slight tint, or as Sgt.Cam Wooley likes to call it "privacy glass", so when you apply tint... whats the end %??

basicaly the conclusion was and i think it was backed with factual sources altho dont hold me to this, is that bascialy,

quoted loosely // " a police officer must be able to differentiate the gender, ethnicity and amount of passangers " //

something to those words.

so if a cop pulls you over and says that "i couldnt see who was driving the car", then you might have tinted it a bit too much indeed.
