Hello all
I've recently acquired a new house plus two car garage plus lift and have been finally able to have all 3 of our cars at the same location.
Our 2001 996 has been stored winters but isn't a garage queen...long road trips, track days, a few dirt roads etc.
When I put it up on the lift for the first time, I couldn't believe the filth underneath. I'm thinking of taking on the job myself, but thought I'd see if any of my fellow RennListers could refer me to a reputable engine cleaning shop...preferably downtown area, but I can travel within GTA.
Thanks in advance and happy spring.
Ian
Thanks very much for the prompt responses and suggestions. I'm going to give HP Cars a try and watch how they do it. I have the power washer, but am concerned about making a rookie mistake and spraying sensors/electronics and whatever else I could possibly screw up.....
Thanks again
Ian
If you want someone else to do the job for you, I can't say enough good things about Michaelangelo's Auto Salon. A little shop near Broadview and Eastern. They do dealer work for Dowtown as well as BMW Toronto and some other high end stuff, but also have lots of private clients including me for the last ten years. They're fantastic guys. Very diligent, reasonably priced, and miracle workers with restoration and repair work (especially interiors), paintless dent removal and all that. I've had several engines done as well as the undercarriages of a couple of cars and my Rover. Just another thought.

Just had the engine cleaned at Michaelangelo's Auto Salon. What a great job....degreased and cleaned the entire undercarriage, cleaned and detailed top of motor, cleaned all hoses and applied waterproofing and it looks better than new.....6 seasons of crud and grime removed. He also made sure that the cleaning wasn't agressive so Porsche rustproof coating was left intact.
The bill? a grand total of $69.50.
Highly recommended!
Bruce, thanks so much for your referral. I have benefited a great deal from my Rennlist membership and fellow members.
Cheers
Ian
ah too bad , I was going to second Phils recomendation of spraying with ski goggles, and recommend a tuk and ski gloves .. with rubber boots .. and then suggest you post a pic ...
You're welcome. I'm really glad it worked out for you. Love those guys. Mike is a real craftsman. They'd be huge if he didn't care so much about the product and wasn't so picky about who he hired.
