Ups owns their own brokerage house, thy make more off this than they do the shipping for cross border I am sure.
THis is why drive across the border and pick it up . It is only an hour from me. I have it held at a private post office in Niagara falls, pay the guy 5.00 and claim it at the border. On about 20 trips I have payed the pst/gst twice, they usually just say have a nice day !

ARGH, I'm gonna get ****ed BY UPS AGAIN!!!

SPEC Clutch just send me a few units by UPS. Ishould have told my buddy 2 make sure they sent them thru FedEx. I'll be damned if i'm paying a duty fee on these. They're made in the US and are exempt under NAFTA (as are all mexican or USA goods comming into canada with a value under 2G's).

UPS can lick my left cancerous nut in a clockwise fashion.

guys...can you recommend a good customs broker?
UPS just told me their gonna want 53 dollars plus 2.2% on each dollar, plus 5 bucks here and there for other ancilliary fees. that's insane.

The last time I took the shaft was when I bought a supercharger kit from ebay 5 years ago. Unknowingly shipped it by Fed/Ex thinking that total shipping will be $150cdn. I almost passed out when I had to pay an additional $160cdn to cover the border fees. That’s the last time I used either Fed/Ex or UPS. Since then it was either USPS or had the packages shipped to a Buffalo address and then I picked it up personally.

What you CAN do, is specify that youll clear them yourself. If the parts come through an airport or something, you can pick them up from UPS's center or whatever and walk them over to customs and do it all there.

Thats all I know, I havent done it personally but ive heard thats doable.

So Fed/Ex is doing the "Prison mambo"/"bendover Tango" as well. I never liked courriers but did not know why, now I know, they're mail order scum....

As far as I know Fed/Ex operates the same way as UPS. Toa void getting scammed at the border, USPS or Canada Post are the only way to ship to and from the US .

I am in Cambridge also and use CANAM mail oulet, it is about 2 minutes over the border at Niagara. Bob Seager runs it ( the OTHER Bob Seager ) and 95% of his business is Canadian. He says the shaft from UPS and FEDEX are keeping him very busy with guys like us. For anyone interested PM me and I can send you his phone number. I am not sure i am allowed to do this on the forum
