Default Track Alignment Southern Ontario

Do any of you track guys have a recommendation for a shop capable of doing a track alignment on a gt4rs ? How much does it cost and did it make a noticeable difference to your car ?
Thanks very much.

Whereabouts are you?

I take my car to Mantis for pre track inspection and alignment. There are other guys here way more into tracking than I am, but I'd say it makes a big difference. Can be the difference between a balanced car and not....

I use Policaro Performance..
That team also wrenches a GT4RS Clubsoport, and I prefer a dealer shop while the car is under warranty...
Other than rear toe links, the alignment is most crucial on this car and makes a huge difference on track.
The 4RS likes an aggressive alignment!
Cannot recall cost as I am always including other stuff at alignment time, but hey, it's a Porsche...
I also have great experience with Dirk at Mantis, I am just a bit sensitive on warranty, my 4RS is a 90% track car...
YMMV!

Should have also mentioned Pfaff Tuning, they have done track setups on 3 of my cars.
Just a little further drive for me, but may be convenient for you as they are just off the 400.
Piero is the contact there...
Cheers!

If you drive it on the street it could cause excessive camber wear to your tires.

Is this for a street driven car or dedicated track use?

I run about -3.5f/-3.0r degrees of camber on my Cayman and I don't notice any abnormal wear on the street. Granted being mostly a track car my tires don't last that long anyway.

I think what really kills tires quickly is if your toe alignment is out.

I'm not as aggressive on my alignment for the Boxster but I haven't haven't noticed abnormal wear on the street. Like yourself, it's mostly a track car and I think my tires play a huge role in the wear (or lack of.)

toe kills tires, not camber

Car will be 4 to 5 track days a year and maybe 6 to 8 days a year driven on the street. This car is one of 4 cars that I use for weekend drives that get rotated every week so it may only see one street day a month. As to tires and street wear it is looks like the track is going to wear them out way faster anyways judging by the wear on them after two track days. I expect four track days per set. Heat cycles are also an issue with one day at the track , 20 minutes on 40 minutes off 7 sessions equals 7 heat cycles. From what I read tires are not much good after 20 to 25 heat cycles, some saying even less. Then again do the tires cool enough after 40 minutes for that to count as a heat cycle ? After two days tires were certainly worn but still had good grip.

Turbo Dan, thanks for the reference to Markham I will also check them out.
