Does that usually include doing the clutch? Doesn't seem to take much in power upgrades to make the stock one slip.

seems ok, negotiating the $1k trunk money that was announced Saturday. They tried to slip in a $500 truecoat, err, interior protection package edit: which was the monster floor mats, which I guess is ok. Edit 2: the $1k trunk money only applies if you are leasing or financing, however they are honouring it for my cash purchase

We've had a deposit down on a 2025 Golf R (MK8.5) for about a year to replace my wife's current 2017 R (MK7). We're not in a rush and she doesn't drive manual so fine to wait for the refreshed model... based on the announcement details I'm looking forward to it even if it won't land until the spring. Thankfully we're #3 on our dealer's list for the 8.5 so we should get one of the first arrivals.

Supposed to get the car tomorrow. Have an appointment first thing Friday for stage 2 tune. Quite curious to see how lively it becomes.

did you drive it stock though? I'm always curious about modding a brand new car right away and the reasons behind it

I traded my 2017 Mk7 GTI for a 2024 Golf R in November and have zero regrets.

the infotainment isn’t great, but not as bad as journalists let on. DSG is better and the chassis and suspension are massive improvements.

overall fit and finish isn’t as good as the Mk7, but still feels like a more upscale car than it is.

on the balance, I have zero regrets with the swap and don’t miss my Mk7 one bit

Ya they will tag it TD1 if it ever gets connected to the mother ship. Been down that road with VW and it was not fun. Flashing back to stock does not work either and that is what happened on mine, the PO had flashed it back and VW's CPO inspection does not include a scan.

I had two 7.5 manuals that were stock. Assume this guy will be similar.
