If you have a clean record and a garage, an insurance company quoting $4k+ per year is just telling you that they don’t want your business.

Either that or you have a really valuable car. My '74 Z, I only pay $260 annually for full coverage and $300 deductible. 993 tt, over $5K. I'm thinking there is a huge Porsche/value tax irrespective of risk.

Put my 2001 Boxster S on the road this week...

Checked my insurance today.... went up $24 to put it on the road....

Backstory. 5 cars / 4 drivers in our summer household... Boxster is paired with the 2000 Miata on our policy. My son is listed as the primary driver on the miata when he's home from school. We were paying $135.51/month for the Miata on the road, and fire/theft on the Boxster. After the road insurance got activated, the rate went up to $158.42/month on that policy....

It's nice to feel that you got a deal once in a while on insurance....
