Porsche and oil changes
#16
The best route is to take an oil sample and have it tested for $25. This will give you factual evidence of where your stands vs when it needs to be changed.
Some of these manufacturers are using oil change intervals that are way too long.
The worst thing you can do during winter storage is start your car, it adds moisture/water to the oil which can drastically lower the viscosity.
Depending on your environment and driving conditions, I believe 15,000km is way too long between changes.
I typically change the oil every 3500-4000km, but my car is pretty heavily modified.

Much better app than I had for my previous vehicle - where you had to connect your phone to the vehicles's wifi network each time (?!?) in order to do some pretty limited things.

May apply to any car but oil tests on 993tt forum show 5K mile oil in near perfect condition. Changing every year on low use cars is probably unnecessarily wasteful.

$700 was for the oil change alone. Highway robbery.
May need to find a GTA mechanic that I can actually trust to do this stuff.

Is it really that difficult to change the oil on a modern Porsche ..
My classic is like 15 minutes and you don't even need a jack.. the longest part is waiting for the old oil to drain out.

$300 seems cheap. The c40 mobile 1, $25/L
$250 just for the oil.. this is for a turbo… the filter is $50 too…
Edit. I do my own oil changes and it’s $300cdn just for the supplies as per above.

if your car is still under warranty or CPO then you are getting the 2 hour oil change. that means that you are charged 2 hours labour which last year for me was 352.00, parts was 274.40 all plus tax. they do a multi-point inspection and give you a report. the cost for the oil was 120, filter parts was 100, new fob battery, top up washer fluid, fuel system cleaning was 30, I don't know if you could just tell them to change the oil and filter and nothing else.
