within reason. they are going to do a full inspection for a warranted car as it is in their interest to head off any major potential failures later on that they would have to correct at their expense. it's also good for the customer as it can or might prevent them being stranded at some future date.

Well, they left me with a present in any event (and since I know someone there dropped the bill by a few hundred). My new favorite espresso cup....and given cost of the maintenance, most expensive espresso cup ever.

For my first mtc at 3000 km, I did not get a report. I was there for 4 hours. The car was visible, but I did not sit there watching it because the service reps were in the way. The dozen or so times I looked, I saw no one near the car

They must have done something, tho, because the service interval had been reset

993 is a pain with 2 filters and the stuff that has to be moved to get at the small filter. Nevertheless, buy M1 V Twin in the US for C$11, $75 for filters and 1 hour's labour - $110+$75+$145=$330 at most indies.

Just booked my spring 650 plus tax oil change. Only reason I'm doing it with the stealer is because of CPO.
Indy or DIY once CPO is over.

What was the lead time like?
I'm sure they'll be getting booked up solid this time of year.

Just a friendly reminder - If you are going to a Porsche dealer (I assume PCNT) check with your service advisor if they will complete your PCA UCR track day inspection form while the car is in for an oil change. It should be free!

So anyone have an Independent mechanic they trust with their Porsche(s) in the GTA?

Depending on where you are, there are a few.

Popular ones are Brent Hunter at Hunter Motorsports in Mississauga. Busy guy but great shop and great team of mechanics. Worth the wait if you are patient. My other go-to is Mantis Autosport in Oakville. New ownership for a few years now, and they are my go-to. I'm sure the other guys will chime in with other independent shops.

well ... i don't want to go down a rabbit hole with this but i have been in the service business for over 35 years ...

Warranty is not at the dealerships expense, everything is put through corporate. When they are doing your inspection they are doing it to drum up business and its " fluff" to make you feel like you are getting your moneys worth. When was the last time here anyone with a new Porsche was left at the side of the road.? They are amongst the most reliable vehicles built. There is almost nothing that is done now to avoid something more expensive later on a new car.

So let me ask this just as a test .... lets say they replaced your battery for free ( which in now way should need replacing BTW on a warrantied car ). How much did they charge you for a 4 dollar battery ? ... Even if they did it for free they gave you " perceived value" to justify ridiculous costs.

Anyway if it helps you feel better at night and feel you are getting good value for your money , than that's great !! everyone wins , you sleep better, Porsche has your hard earned money.

Just remember , Porsche are a marketing/ financing company that builds cars. So if you feel good, they have done their job very well.

My son's mini came with 3 years of servicing included. When the warranty ran out, I started doing the service for him.

When I first wanted to take the wheels off, the car was maybe 4 years old, I had to smash the rims off by beating the tires with a sledgehammer. The rims were rusted onto the hubs.

In the warranty period, the dealer had never removed any of the wheels. So much for inspection.

4 years and you never rotated the tires?
