I bought in the US once, but from a dealer, so certain level of comfort there and they were great in the entire process.
Has anybody used a US Escrow service? Seems like a reasonable way to provide additional assurance in a private transaction.

I don’t think so Iceman. I know where he lives. I spoke to the GM where the PPI was done and he knew the seller from previous dealings. I think he just got paranoid about being scammed. I just wish he would have shared any concerns earlier as I could have easily provided references from Rennlist that would have put any fears to rest. He never mentioned any concerns until he sent the redacted title. Thanks Ronan. It certainly takes the fun out of things when issues like this happen. I put a lot of time into this one and I need a rest before trying this again! Hopefully, I’ll find something local…

Also, he may have been worried about paying capital gains on the sale due to the new IRS reporting.

Exactly what I thought!
Got some good news this morning...the US Major General who bought my tip just received it in Germany today. he is at a Porsche dealer having it inspected and they all love it. They asked him if they could display it in their showroom. pics to follow...

The EIN replaced the use of their SIN due to privacy concerns. It is used to make entries into the automated export system that tracks items leaving the country to prevent supporting terrorist organizations. The IRS issues the EIN, but does not use it in this instance for taxes (although they could if they wanted to). Businesses already have an EIN, so they have to provide that also.
