The asking price is just shy of $20k over MSRP. Pretty well-optioned. I wouldn't pay that, but somebody else will might.

I think they've confused it with a $160K car.

It works out to be less than 20k over when you take into account the MSRP price increases.

I think it's roughly 10k over at today's pricing (and that's not including luxury tax).

Yep...that's new 992 C2 territory (if you can handle the wait). Or a Lotus Emira and a bag full of change from a $160k bill. At $120-$130K 718 Spyders and GT4s were unique and reasonably priced for what they delivered; at current prices there are other options inside and outside the Porsche stable.

I have no idea the condition of the car. But assuming all checks out. I would say it's likely a fair price. Might even be able to negotiate down a tad. I traded my 20 Spyder with slightly higher MSRP in 2021, think half the mileage. Got MSRP back. Dealer sold it within days for I believe it was $20k over or so IIRC.

Market is still tight for these cars. Good luck getting an allocation plus also need to factor lux tax.

May be so, but I guarantee you those 2 cars are not a GT4 or Spyder experience. Really comes down to what you want and what your tradeables are. Granted I haven't driven an Emira and it sounds like a fantastic car.

If you wait until the market cools, prices should come down some. To be seen what happens when production ends and whether they continue making the 4 and Spyder when 718 goes electric.

I traded my 981 GT4 for about 9% over list to a dealer in December. It sold shortly after for 20% over list. 6yr old car. Pristine. Well specd with 12k on it.

Demand is high for these cars. MSRP is not a reliable measure of value for them.

Yes I'm surprised how well 981 are holding value. I had one and traded at $8k below MSRP to get a 991.2 GT3. This was in 2018 though, times changed drastically since and back then was already a mind shift in buying GT product.

Had I waited another 4-6 months to trade my 718 Spyder, I could've netted more than MSRP on trade. Hindsight though, had no idea things would get hotter. Also was happy to get 100% of my money back on the car, drove it for about 6000 km and didn't even need service in my time.

totally. If you had of waited you probably would have paid a similar amount more for whatever you bought. It comes out in the wash but it’s a mistake for someone to price these cas versus msrp - the original buyer probably got completely hosed beyond msrp!

traded for GT4 allocation, no extra purchases etc. Did it a couple months early to help dealer and I didn’t have space to store the Spyder. Also wanted first allocation to get car for following year track season. All mostly worked out well. Only downside was RFR agreement dealer sprang on me when the allocation came, no word of it before hand. Didn’t like that.

whoever bought the spyder though will end up taking a some kind of haircut from their over msrp purchase.

Curious about the RFR these shady sacks presented you. Was it a take it or leave it? Did the contract dictate what the offer matrix would have been given time, condition and mileage? What would have occured if you sign at time of transaction and then youre not satisfied with the offer vs open market?

Such a shady *** move on their part. I would have given them the finger and exposed them in every enthusiast forum I could with specfic details of the language if they attempted to spring that on me last minute. It boggles my mind that people get sucked into these idiotic usury games for a car.
May just be me 🤷🏻‍♂️

don’t know if it was. Didn’t test that point. Did speak with GM though. The agreement is not that bad. The dealer gets first dibs on buying it back either first offer or match another. There’s no set price or condition. This was in place for first 6 months from delivery. For first 12 months from bill of sale/allocation you cannot sell the car. My issue was this was not mentioned at all until allocation time, they already had my Spyder as it was traded a couple months prior to allocation. Didn’t check legalities around the deal when the RFR agreement came up.

I could’ve walked but wanted the GT4. So I wouldn’t call it sucked into at all.

again only bad thing about it in my mind was the surprise.

When I put my deposit for a 992 down in 2020, these RFR docs where just becoming a thing locally. I was presented with one that I refused to sign. I spoke to the GM of my dealership and he waived it for me since I was a repeat customer.

At that price...there must be better P cars to buy.
