CPO warranty and after market exhaust question

As a crazy car boy, I modded everything I could. Headers, computers, waste gates, turbos.
As an older boy, I leave everything sealed until the warranty is over and things will be my problem.
When I dropped off my ‘16 Macan for PPF, the installer mentioned some of the headlights clear coats were failing.
He suggested we not PPF the headlights. Sure enough, four years later foggy headlights. Replaced under warranty.
It’s never a problem, until it is a problem. I prefer to be innocent 😇, than accused of being guilty and having to prove my innocents.
Germans are not funny people.

On this forum in the past 5 yr, there was a denial by PCNT of a Cayman owner's claim on an engine failure which had a suspension controller installed...
IMHO the owner caved, I would have hired a lawyer (I am litigious) and had PCNT/Porsche Corporate explain in a court EXACTLY how the suspension controller nuked the engine... While I am not an engineer, I think it would be a difficult task, and not a Public fight Porsche would want....
Based on this past issue, I would NEVER deal with PCNT....
As far as other mods, I would like to see Pfaff Tuning or Policaro Motorsport (my preferred tuners under warranty) explain that after doing extensive mods and charging for them, they nuked the warranty without advising the customer....
My discussion with these firms has been that brakes, suspension, exhaust (not headers), will not affect warranty, except obviously on the parts replaced...
But in fact, after 15 P cars owned, I have never really been able to break anything, in spite of about 20 track days per year over the past 5 yr....
Cheers!

Had no issue with my RS at PCNT which is lightly modded including Sharkwerks exhaust and a few other things. Based on their reputation I was somewhat worried as they were doing the major service required for the CPO warranty extension... but zero issues at all.
Perhaps the situation has changed or I just had a good Service Advisor...

Where they made me go "Hmm..." was when I took the car in and the SA made it a sticking point they won't look at or touch anything aftermarket. I have Koni shocks and some aftermarket suspension replacements and the SA made it a point to drive it home to me they won't support or repair anything that isn't original. I kind of stood there thinking whether he was messing with me or not but the SA was dead serious. I haven't questioned it since but if it appears they are cool with aftermarket parts, then that is good news.

Full disclosure: My car is an out-of-warranty 21 year old 986 Boxster. I don't have any issues with PCNT. In fact, they are my preferred Porsche dealer for parts and track day inspections and anything I absolutely cannot do on my own or the lead time for an appointment with Mantis is weeks out.

We just do not need that hassle from a dealer when others are willing to work with a customer on these issues...
Seemed maybe like an ego thing or maybe genuine, I do know PCNT denied the Cayman claim because of a suspension controller, that was the discussion point which raised the issue with the SA.....

My 991.2 GT3 was sold to me by Pfaff at 12 mos old, with CPO and a SharkWerks exhaust installed....
No stock exhaust came with the car...
Only dealer I have had issues with is PCNT, I shipped my new Cayene directly from PCNT to Pfaff Tuning for H and R springs and spacers, PCNT would not consider it....
On my GT4 Pfaff Tuning also installed camber plates, toe links, Soul exhaust, Girodisc, etc, no problem....

I like the SharkWerks on the street, it is a little higher pitched.......
Also had a .2GT3RS with GMG, I preferred it on the track at full tilt, a deeper/louder sound.....
A very personal thing, and of course First World dilemmas....
Cheers!!

Hey all - thanks for all the comments - finally heard back from my SA yesterday - but a lot of things going on here in OTT with the storm going through over the weekend. The response was "as long as any issue is unrelated to the aftermarket install, your warranty is fine..." I guess that statement is open to interpretation. Having said that, with the cost of the back cat exhaust, I think I may wait until next year to swap the exhaust out. Something to look forward to!
